The Cato Institute is the fountainhead (pun intended) of the Libertarian cult and they are terrified of the prospect of real regulation in the insurance industry. Their moral bankruptcy really shines through on this issue, because true reform (esp a public option) would cultivate real competition——why does the anti-reform crowd fear this prospect?

My brother, recovering from prostate cancer, was just turned down by Blue Cross for medication prescribed by his physician to return blood flow to the area involved (Viagra). He was told by the insurance company that “restoring sexual function is not medically necessary.” Although it is understandable that they would not routinely cover Viagra for recreational purposes, what right does an insurance company have to declare that sexual function is not medically necessary!? Who is the doctor, anyway?
