Video: A Tea Party Counterprotest

For the most part, today’s Tea Party was harmonious, with the crowds chanting in unison, “No Obamacare” and “You lie” and such. But there were small pockets of counterprotest that led to a few heated debates.

The most elaborate counterprotest came in the form of an a cappella ensemble, dressed in formal wear and posing as the corporate fat cats who benefit from the health care status quo — and, by extension, from the demonstrations against reform. After the jump are two video clips from their performance — one of their song, and the other of the jeers that ensued.

The music:

And the aftermath:

I recognize a few of these folks from their visit to Minnesota for the RNC last fall. Formerly known as Billionaires for Bush, they were here as “Proud Bush-McCain Republicans.”

Great tune! Says it all… How so many people can be so completely duped by corporate interests into protesting against their own best interests is completely befuddling! It says a lot about the complete lack of intellectual curiosity in this Country!

peace!

These folk REALLY don't know what it is they're “protesting”. They've listened to hate radio and mental defectives like Glenn Beck, who, by the way is on his OWN personal vendetta. HIS, no one elses. He uses 1984 and his own brand of idiocy to convince these people that there is something to fear.

What there is to fear are nuts like Beck and his ilk spreading anti-American nonsense to those predisposed to fighting something they don't understand. People, Beck does NOT want you to understand. He expects you to fall in line, just like Hitler did his own people. It's funny how Beck invokes the monster's name when talking about ANYTHING Obama is doing FOR this country, which is more than I can say for Bush and Cheney.

I like the idea of using this type of operatic device to state the obvious. It brings a bit of class to a situation devoid of anything resembling common-sense or decency. I wish I could believe that it would help, but culture like this is most probably over the heads of most of these people. Sad.

Funny though, there is more information and logic coming out of Beck than anybody cheer-leading the current reform efforts. Beck may be a lunatic, but that doesn't mean all of his ramblings are wrong. In fact, if you actually bothered to watch and LISTEN to him, you'd know that he says to do the research yourself. That is anything BUT asking somebody to “fall in line”, which is what I think every time I listen to President Obama speak on healthcare reform.

Yeah, the Rockefellers were always “fellow travelers.”

Watching the antics of America’s angry, confused conservatives, many of us wonder, “how long must we endure these people?” Thankfully, as Martin Luther King once said: “How long? Not long.” Look at the faces of the Tea Party folks who gathered in Washington D.C., to stage a very muddled protest against what they alternately called President Obama’s socialist, fascist, Marxist or racist health care reform. What do you see? That’s right. White people. Well, white people won’t be the dominant race or culture in America for much longer. By 2042, they will be a minority, and their percentage of the population will continue to decline throughout the century and beyond. The numbers and power of white people are eroding, not only in the United States but around the world. As the color and culture of our great nation changes, the crazed conservatives – who comprise a slice of the white population but not of the population of people of color – will find themselves steadily marginalized. http://tiny.cc/whitefolks
