Poll: Joe Wilson Takes a Hit From ‘You Lie’

Confounding some of their early findings last night, the Public Policy Polling survey of South Carolina’s 2nd congressional district finds that voters have turned on Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), even though they split on whether Wilson was correct when he accused the president of lying about illegal immigrants’ rights to health care in his reform plans. The gist: Wilson is statistically tied with his Democratic opponent Rob Miller, with Miller up 44-43.

Overall 49% of voters say they are less likely to vote for Wilson in the future because he called Obama a liar, while 35% say they are more likely to do so. 56% of Republicans say that Wilson’s calling out the President makes them more likely to support him.

More results:

Conservatives are the only people who approved of Wilson’s outburst, by a tiny margin.

Wilson should be fired. Where is the outrage Democrats? If it was Bush giving that speech and Clinton shouted out “you lie” well we all know what would have happened. South Carolina get rid of this idiot. Republicans are devils in human form. They are so out of touch with reality. They have one agenda and thats to destroy the President. I don't understand why the President keeps reaching out to the Republicans. The President must see something the American people don't.

Get it on wilson..the more you open your mouth, the more we will support Miller and contribute! Your supporters could only raise tshirts and coffee. You are a pathetic buffoon…and an opportunistic reptile of the lowest degree. We want to raise the amount of more than one million so you can say goodbye to your seat. Will Rush give you a million bucks or Sean? Two more reptilian creatures that roam around the earth.

granted it was not the forum for shouting at the President… but at least you have the guts to speak up, which is sorely lacking among most Repubs. Good form appologizing! Just do not quit speaking the truth about the bill's support of illegals.. Wow! Two amendments that simply wanted proof of citizenship are trashed by the Dems.. they are sick.. they need a shrink..

It's obvious you have not followed politics very long. If you had you would recall Pres. George Bush's SOTUA, (that's State of the Union Address in case you don't know,) and how the Pres. was constantly interrupted with boos, chants, and murmurs. The Pres. continued on, trying his best to ignore the dems. Do you think there was any apology from the opposing party? Not one. Yet Joe Wilson is now considered a racisit. Now, I'm not saying what he did is right, and I agree he should have apologized, but if we are going to point fingers, all guilty parties need to take reponsibility for their actions.

As always, the reps are wrong. WRONG. How else can they have 101% in opinions? I'm just saying..

Simple. Because they rounded up the individual percentages.

I hope you remind the democrats that in America, we have freedom of speech! That's all you need to say to the democrats. And remind them that they to are voicing freedom of speech in regards to their racial comments. Do they not realize the president is half white, and half black. Where did they get the idea we have a black president. The democrats are the ones putting the president down. If they cared about him they would not give him a racial card to play. Like he needs one more issue. Shame on Carter, he is stoking the fire. I just don't see how your commit during the president's speech warrented Carter's comments. Trust me Carter will never offer apology for his thoughts. So, now freedom of speech is for democrats only. Thank you for not giving them an apology, your apology to the President was accepted. I will be donating to your campaign, because you are the man SC needs. Your Alabama friend.

Um, Mr No Name, you are actually incorrect. On the floor of the house, you do NOT have the right to free speech. There are long standing rules that go back to the founding of the country that control who, when, and how. Specifically, it is against house rules, and common decency and respect, that you do not heckle someone who has the floor. President or not.

So, your point is entirely incorrect. Try to at least have an inkling of what you are talking about before going off on a teabagger wingnut rant.
