He’s been advertising on the email lists of The Washington Times and Townhall.com, among other places, and claims to have raked in $200,000 so far. Here’s the pitch from one of the emails:

My only question…where was he in the fight against big government conservatives? Seems to me, he was silent and respectful as they were running up deficits before Obama became president. Guess we know the truth about his conservatism…only when convenient.

The Congressman from S.C. knows a thing or two about pay to play:

Since 2003, William Skipper, the president of American Business Development Group, has donated $8,800 to Wilson’s campaign. And Skipper also gave the only individual contribution this year to the Carolina Majority PAC, which is Wilson’s personal Political Action Committee.
[...]
Skipper’s contribution to Wilson’s PAC — for $5,000, the legal maximum — was made on March 10, 2009. Earmark requests for the appropriations bills were due five days later. So FNH’s lobbyist was handing Wilson a check at virtually the same time that Wilson was asking for $2.5 million in federal funds for the lobbyist’s client.

Doesn't him making a lot of donations of this is only going to encourage more insults to the President?

That's such a good point that many people overlook. When the government wants to bail out banks, and banks stand to make a lot of money, that's fine. However, if government wants to give insurance to every citizen through a public option, and the insurance companies stand to lose money, now its socialism.

I LIKE THIS JOE! bravo for speaking the truth, it seems that conservative momentum is finally building up, the Obama liberal chateau which lacked foundation is finally starting to crumble, middle class Americans and non-illegals (ie normal citizens) can't be silenced any longer. And we will be louder in 2010 if anyone dares proposing 'amnesty' to illegals. Healthcare debates were just a foretaste.

Joe just signed his death warrant with his “Congress Gone Wild” behavior. He must make a PUBLIC apology on the House floor, because his PERSONAL insult to the President was done in the People's House, on Global TV, directed at the President while in his presence. He needs to be made an example of and nip this barn yard behavior in the bud. I blame most of the Senior Republican House members for NOT rebuking him in public. This is just more of the same non-civil behavior that this hack witted party has resolved to as their part of a SERIOUS problem in America. THEY ARE NOT SERIOUS about this issue, otherwise they would have taken care of it in the past 4 or 8 years. THERE IS NOTHING that comes from this party on this matter can now be taken seriously. PURE JUVENILE THUGGERY!

I did contact Joe Wilson about his outrageous behavior – I told him I was only disappointed that he apologized for calling this disgraceful President out on the barrels of lies he has told to the American people since day 1 of this most extreme administration. Most of what few Republicans are left in Congress are pathetic, political cowards who shiver in fear of directly confronting this wrecking-ball of a President.

Obama should apologize to EVERYONE for all the lies he has told since taking office. Of course, he knows exactly what he's doing and with a compliant, rubber-stamp congress and his hordes of delusional zombie followers he's unstoppable until at least 2010.

WAY TO GO JOE – YOU CALLED A LIAR A LIAR – THANKS FOR HAVING THE MORAL COURAGE TO SPEAK FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. DON'T APOLOGIZE FOR ANYTHING – THE STATE-RUN MEDIA WILL DESTROY YOU IF THEY SEE WEAKNESS FROM YOU. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE TRUTH – ONLY GLORIFYING THIS RADICAL PRESIDENT.

Many of you are missing the point by arguing from your own narrow political perspective.

The country is going down in flames as the President Barry O. employs Alinksky power tactics to propagate a series of factual misrepresentations (e.g. “lies”) regarding his health care agenda (FYI, President Sotero has yet to offer up a bill, only ~$900 billion in concepts).

Rep. Wilson vocalized what many folks, from all stripes and persuasions, were yelling at their TV screens. Un-opposed, un-challenged lies – one after the other, from a podium once respected and reserved for political discourse – not pointed insults at vocal opposition.

One final question – where's the acknowledgement that despite its faults we still have the greatest health-care system in the world? A shout out for tireless physicians and nurses who save our lives daily? Or acknowledgement of the existence of the vocal majority of 52% of this country who oppose Obama-care (e.g. HR 3200) as it currently stands?

President Obama was elected President by a landslide majority in large part due to the urgent need to clean up and fix the mess left behind by the previous administration. Joe Wilson would like to see us return to this mess rather than fix what needs to be with his inexcusable behaviour. He needs to go. His time is up.

Shannon get your facts straight before posting crap. There was no landslide. http://redbluerichpoor.com/blog/2008/11/electio…

5%! That's not a landslide. And since you also need a lesson on our countries governing setup…the house and senate (which has much more clout than the president) was majority democrat. So you can thank your own party for the mess. Bush even said after the 06 elections that the Dems were in control of the house and senate and he'll do what he can to support the people's decision.
And Joe Wilson is twice the man obama will ever be. Our president is a liar and a deciever. And you are one of his sheep.

You should be too ashamed of yourself too show your face in public. You may not respect President Obama (who is twice the man yu would ever be, but you should respect the office he holds. By the way the President was correct that the health care reform would not cover “Illegal aliens” so you are the liar I guess anything goes to get what you want including the truth, the law and the constitution. Thats how you right wing zeoulots think.

Good for honest Joe Wilson, as opposed to the scumbag Amb. who married a skank named Plame. And the Demo-rats booed Bush during a SOTU Address, not a puffed-up press conference dressed as a Joint Session. Dear Leader Brobambi is politically akin to that South African runner, leonardpina, kind of half-and-half, ha ha ha. So don't call him a man. The POTUS lied because we know the Demo-rats did twice deny language excluding illegal immigrants, so even someone as dishonest as Obama knew he was fibbing when he disingenuously claimed it wouldn't cover illegal aliens; the Dems would sic Admin Czar Cass Sunstein on a bill without the language and li'l Cass would “tweak” the language to mean the gate-crashers were eligible

And we know that if Wilson's opponent raises more than he does, the DNC rotters will spend the cash outside his district, because he's a shoo-in in SC. The DNC crime spree continues; I know because I gave John Kerry a check for five figures in the '80s to vote for arms to Pakistan, along with Chris Dodd and all ten Republican ForRelCte members. You can read about it in Charlie Wilson's War.

dave,

Just like the GREAT job Shrub did TO us, right? Your hate-filled political diatribes are finally reaping a reward. You are now looking more ridiculous to all, the more you spout your nonsense. YOU may know what you're saying, but none of the rest of us do. Keep it up! It's nice to have a foil to let us know where the reality really is, and it isn't YOU! LOL!!

Oh, by the way, Wilson's history. I don't think the people of S.Carolina are quite THAT stupid, to have someone THAT stupid, say things THAT stupid, making S. Carolina look THAT stupid. Just makes you look THAT much more stupid!
