Rep. Joe Wilson Talks With Sean Hannity, Stands By His Comments
Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 4:14 pm
Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), who apologized last night after yelling “you lie!” during the president’s address to Congress, appeared on Sean Hannity’s radio show to push back against the idea that he was actually wrong.
“At the end of the day, you’re right and the president is wrong,” said Hannity.
“You and I know it’s an expansion of big government, aside from giving benefits to illegal aliens,” said Wilson. He thanked Hannity and talk radio for pushing the issue and educating the public.
“I think that there’s a fear here,” said Hannity. “I think they’re having a hard time dealing with the fact that you were right about immigration.”
Update: Hannity ended the segment by telling listeners to donate to Wilson and playing a montage of Democrats being mean to George W. Bush.
“There’s quite a double standard, Sean.”

When, if ever, has an elected officical shouted out during the President's address to Congress?
Where is the respect, regardless of your political affiliation; your wrong Hannity, you're always wrong.

So, this is what it's like to be a republican member of the U.S. Congress; a two-bit heckler; how professional. I guess he's just better than everyone else so he can get away with it.

Sean Hannity and Rep. Joe Wilson is the epitomy of hatred and bigotry in this country. Their hatred for President Obama has affected their thinking and moral balance to the point that if they had a way to exterminate the President and get away with it they would. None of these characters has the ability nor the mental capacity to understand what President is doing so the only input they have is based on trying to destroy him, not because he's wrong, but because he's black. Wake up men and know that we have an intelligent President and one that's baring his soul for the sake of America. I'll be willing to bet my life that if the President was white they would never attack him this way.

Once again the republicans are showing their true color: intellectually incompetent, hate and lack of class. We understand that the republicans are only driven to destroy whatever this president proposes so they can score points for the next elections. Unfortunately America understands their game, and they'll remain in the minority!

I am glad that Joe Wilson, made the remark that President Obama is a Liar. Because I believe that Obama is just telling the people what they want to hear, in order to get his foot in the door. Once he is in he is not going to care about the burden on the tax payers. Like when he was running for president, he said that the taxes would not be raised, and now they are going to raise the taxes on small business and middle class tax payers. Joe Wilson represents the majority of American's out there, republicans, democrat's and independents, he should not be punished for representing most of America. If Obama really wants to be fair he should take comments from both sides, and constructive criticism.

Read the bill. You,Wilson and Hannity are all idiots. But you are helping Obama's popularity and the cause of health care reform.

its the sadness that Republicans have damaged the comity that must exist if Congress is going to work together to make changes. oh wait, republicans don't want to compromise to make change 'cuz their always right. problem solved.
when are Democrats going to realize that Republicans today are genetically incapable of reasoned compromise? they only feel that the ends justify the means. wilson has not apologized for being a member of Congress whose only answer to conflict is go from zero to uncontrollable. is that REALLY who we want making laws for America? Republicans would say yes, and not see anything wrong with that, and THAT is the sad, sad truth about them that will tear our country down into the gutter they live in.

Republicans are sore losers? Where have you been? After Bush won, all that was on the news for weeks was how members of “Blue” states were having to go to counseling because they were so distraught. Bush may have made mistakes, but at least he loved this country and didn't feel the need to apologize for the U.S. even existing. Use some common sense and think about what is being promised. Good for Joe Wilson! He voiced what so many are thinking.

It is perfectly legitimate to believe that the President is lying. History will be the true judge. It is another thing entirely to let the halls of congress devolve into a venue like Jerry Springer. Our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves, from both parties. One of President Obama's best lines in that health care speech: “When we can no longer have a civil conversation over the things that truly matter, we lose something essential about ourselves.” Let's allow disagreement, let's even allow people to question others motivations, but we ought to draw a line in the Capitol building when it comes to name calling, interrupting a Presidential speech to jeer, and other such immature behaviors. Let's have a little decorum, just a little of course, since most of it left years ago.

Joe Wilson is just a racist punk…I know them when I see them. I grew up in North Carolina and served my country in the US Air Force. This man is a disgrace to his office, but I am glad he decided to show his stripes so publicly.
I will sending money from my home in California to defeat his future campagin. Shame on him…He is a liar and an obfuscator.
Sean Hannity and the rest of this media scum (and no, they do not deserve any respect) has helped push this idea that progressive agendas can be disrupted by disrespect, hate, lies and frat boy tactics… and this irresponsible behavior has now made it to the joint session against our president. They are dangerous people and they love that power…even if it means that their lies and rhetoric can produce hate crimes…they do not see their part.
I cannot wait until the public option and the rest of this reform bill is passed. Maybe it will actually make Sean and Rush's and now, Joe Wilson's heads explode.
While I honestly wish them no personal harm, I do wish them a long life in a world where the “liberal agenda” that scares them so, reins supreme and they are taxed as appropriate. It is my wish that they have to live next to gay immigrants with adopted gay immigrant children who are all on the public option and thriving financially from dumb luck. I hope the son's and daughters elope with any of their children or relatives, have children themselves and all decide to live in a commune in Vermont that supports the marriage of people with animals and plants.

What happened with Obama……. I was really optimistic when he was running for president. He talked about transparency, which is yet to be seen. He talked about lobbyist not being part of the presidency, which was not true, he talked about not raising taxes on middle class and small business which was another untruth. When will be people throw their hands up in the air and say enough is enough. Are we really that shallow, are we a democracy or dictatorship???????

Ok, after yesterday I am no longer Republican. It's just plain damn embarrassing! I live in DC and actually have seen w/ my eyes that no money will go illegal immigrants so when Wilson shouted that I knew it was just plain political. I can't take this back and forth. I didn't want to public option but you know what? Who gives a you know what! I have doctor friends and friends on the hill etc. I have seen, know and heard first hand how this system can ruin someones health an put them into financial ruin. If Obama says he can do this w/o a huge tax burden, let him do it. Who are we to say you have to suffer but I am fine. I am just tired of this selfishness and I am not the only one. 5 of my other “top” Republican friends are doing the same. We are done. We know who is getting paid by the insurance companies so that is what is keeping this resistance going. If we believe in capitalism, why not have competition for health care? It costs us WAAAY to much money covering people who don't. Trust me, do your research on the web. You can find tons of documentation on this down to the hospital in some cases. If you had a small child, lost your job and need long term care, what do you do? I can't imagine that. Maybe I am getting soft in my 40's but the “me me me” attitude has got to stop. I am not saying I am a Democrat now but I am NO REPUBLICAN. The very last straw was when Hannity just flat out lied about what Obama said now I have to question all of his other shows. I am not sure if he corrected himself but I watched the speech and Obama definitely didn't say that health care executives were bad people he said the opposite but Hannity didn't say that. I am disappointed. I am just done! Hold the insurance companies accountable like they should be been from the start, lower the stupid costs and give people a choice. Period. However they do it I could care less at this point. The hatred is beyond me and is just bad for the country!

Wow! Roy and Ray.. What a pair if government educated dudes these are. How unfortunate that neither has the good sense to understand this bill will do in the nation as we have known it, and that the very drastic nature of these proposals in the Obama-grab is a challenge to futures of all generations for the next 200 years. I am distressed that these child-like opinionists seem incapable of measuring the need for all of us who oppose this madness.. to simply speak out! Joe Wilson has, at his own peril, brought us a “Patrick Henry” moment in the debate of ideas..one which I sincerely appreciate and one which I will support. I have every intention of sending Congressman Wilson as large a financial contribution as I can afford to support him as he continues this very direct opposition to this administration's mad dash to socialism.
As for the reference to “obfuscation”..I'd say that Mr. Wilson is anything but vague about how he feels. Most of us with fifth grade educations can plainly see that it is the Obamacrats and his various street teams who are about the business of hiding their true intentions in these matters. What the radical left and the economic idiots who support their agenda are truly mad about is that..for the first time in a generation, the Republicans are not going to roll over without a fight…for that ..I am both relieved and grateful. Frankly, it is also a great relief to hear that “Rory” will be leaving us. We simply do not have the luxury pandering to the “moderate-weak-links”. I hope he will enjoy his association with the comrades in the “neo-red” movement.
Finally, on what “naive farm” was Ray raised? He seemingly has learned nothing about those with means. Clearly, if they have the means to contribute through heavy taxation to the Obama-Utopia..they also have the means to move themselves and their money to Patigonia…or Bali…where they can recieve their reiterment checks from social security in peace. At that pointy, Obama will look to Ray the outraged citizen..to carry the financial burdern of the Obama-nation. Good luck with that!

Wilson's “heckle heard round the world,” was perhaps the most quintessential display of American conservatism I have ever seen, and I hope it serves as an illustration to the international community of the sort of opposition to progress we in the US face.
No new ideas. No content. No real value. Just blind, irrational fear. These folks resort to heckling and disruption, because it's all they have.

Members of Congress NEED to recognize their disrespectful, negative actions are viewed by Americans young and old nationwide… as well as others internationally. The entire world watches America… for it is the Americans that set “the precedence for the free world”. Disrespectful, negative, childish behavior causing disruptions and distractions is not what the Members of Congress are paid for (i.e. sign waving, shouting, texting and twittering). They are paid to represent the best interest of the American people and act appropriately during any public interaction and contact. American families view Members of Congress through various media sources. Our young are absorbing these negative actions and the disrespectful, unacceptable behavior as “how government works”. What an embarrassment to the American people!
Representative “Joe” Wilson’s negative behavior was absolutely inappropriate, disgraceful and unacceptable of a Member of Congress during the President’s Address to Congress. Members of Congress ARE HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD. There is NO excuse for such disgraceful action whatsoever. The American people, Members of Congress and Representative “Joe” Wilson’s constituents should demand his resignation.

Joe Wilson and the rest of the republican officials who hissed and booed and were busy working with their Blackberries should be ashamed of themselves. They reminded me of mis-behaving school children. We all have the gift of free-speech and free choice but do it in a good honest debate. Which is what President Obama is capable of and it was made clear to the world that the Republican Party is not only uncapable of but rude, obnoxious, immature and liars themselves. I read some of the blogs here and some of you write that Obama is a liar and has done nothing but lie. What lies? Educate yourselves. Fox news lies. Sean Hannity lied the other night when he said, “President Obama called insurance executives bad people”. The President did not say that. What he did say was as he was referring to the abuses of the insurance industry was, “Insurance executives don't do this because they are bad people, they do it because it is profitable”. People be careful who are listening too and educate yourself. Many of you listened to President Bush when he said Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and it was a lie. I knew it was a lie, but many of you believed in the right wing. You all were sucked into a lie that cost thousands of lives, American and Iraqi. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. God Bless America!

I think it is time for this country to get away from standing behind people just becuase they are in the same political party. We need for the folks that are elected, whether we voted for them or not, to do what is right for the majority. We need to hold them accountable for the actions! Jow Wilson is the same person who attacked Strom Thurmond illegitimate daughter for speaking out about being his idol's daughter, attacked her personally for diminishing the standing of his revered Strom even though she was admittedly Strom's daughter and had been supported by him all through her youth. She was the daughter of a Thurmond family maid. Classic. But Wilson got all lathered up and repeatedly attacked her and said she had no right to go public because it detracted from the reputation of a revered senior statesman. He said he felt the same way about scholars who had exposed Thomas Jefferson's parenthood of Sally Hemings' children, on the same rationale, it diminished the reputation of a national icon, never mind that it was TRUE.
What do all of these episodes have in common? They expose the racist underpinings of Wilson's rants. He can't bear seeing the nation's icons truthfully associated with black women. How much more must it rankle him that the President is now black!
What else do they have in common with the present episode? The truth doesn't get in the way of Wilson's righteous anger. It is TRUE that HR 3200 bans the payment of federal subsidies to illegal aliens. Section 246 couldn't be any clearer.
Some conservative bloggers (and Wilson) contend that Section 246 would be ineffective because it doesn't spell out the enforcement mechanisms, and many of the bloggers cite to the Congressional Research Service Report on the bill to support this. But it does NOT. It simply states the obvious, “thus it appears, absent of a provision in the bill specifying the verification procedure, that the Commissioner would be responsible for determining a mechanism to verify the eligibility of noncitizens for the credits.” So there would be a rule-making by the Commissioner to spell out how to determine the eligibility of noncitizens for the subsidies. There would be numerous procedures for claiming “affordability credits” that need to be spelled out by rule-making,
The last time conservatives went on a witch hunt looking for illegal aliens getting Medicaid benefits, they put a requirement into place that all beneficiaries had to prove their citizenship to continue getting benefits. Literally only a handful of illegal aliens were found to be getting benefits – literally 8 in one large multi-state region. But numerous American citizens were purged from the rolls because they lacked proof of citizenship! This is all well-documented.
How many people have certified copies of their birth certificates? How many who have moved to other states have ready access to these records? Some states (like Hawaii!) have moved to documents other than birth certificates, so the requirements that should be imposed will be complex, and this whole issue of how best to verify the requirement that is in the bill is best dealt with in a rule-making. Verification procedures can't just be slapped on the bill in a couple of lines. The requirement itself is there. How to verify it will be dealt with in a rule-making, and many “how to” questions are.
This is not a big conspiracy to do the opposite of what the bill says. Conservatives who believe otherwise insult not only the President, but also every member of Congress who is working in good faith on health care reform legislation. These fantasies about everyone on the other side doing the opposite of what the bill clearly states are just that: paranoid fantasies. And they deserve to be treated as such and taken no more seriously. There is no way to satisfy someone who says you're doing the opposite of what you are doing.

Joe Wilson said, or when he said it, but you must defend his right to say it, even on the floor of the House which may, or may not, be “out of place”, or we have no right at all. A right, though qualified in some cases (shouting “Fire” in a crowded room when there isn't one may be consequencial for the damages of a false alarm) is still a right and only only exist when you can exercise it. Joe Wilson, may have hurt some peoples feelings?, but he did not sound a false alarm. He stated a fact as he sees it and that's his responsibility and right.

I don't agree with Rep. Wilson's position, and I certainly think his outburst was rude. However, the real issue here is to educate the electorate about health insurance/care reform. Take Joe Wilson to task. Do any of the proposed bills contain language providing health insurance/care benefits for illegal aliens at US citizen/legal resident taxpayer/insurance-pool-payer expense? Whether that language should be included in any of the bills (or certainly the final bill) is a separate issue that our elected representatives were elected/hired to resolve. If the majority of United States electorate want to give illegal aliens the same health insurance/care benefits as US citizens (and also understand the cost of such an action) then their elected representatives should probably include such language.
FWIW, I don't understand why Rep. Joe Wilson wasn't hauled away by the Capitol police just like any other vocal citizen protester might have been. Wake up folks, we live in a police state where free speech is not tolerated, only designated messengers speaking from designated safe zones.

No, he did NOT have a right to shout at the president per House Rules and Decorum which is why he is being reprimanded by the House today. Also he violated his military code of ethics as well.
Ho was NOT right in his claim about illegal aliens. The bill clearly states this as McCain agreed with in his post interview.
SEC. 152. PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION IN HEALTH CARE,” which says that “[e]xcept as otherwise explicitly permitted by this Act and by subsequent regulations consistent with this Act, all health care and related services (including insurance coverage and public health activities) covered by this Act shall be provided without regard to personal characteristics extraneous to the provision of high quality health care or related services.” However, the bill does explicitly say that ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS CAN'T GET ANY GOVERNMENT MONEY to pay for health care. Page 143 states: “Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”
And finally he is in the pockets of the ins. co's so we can clearly see why he would be so mad.
Over his entire congressional career, health professionals represent Wilson’s top industry contributors, donating a total of $244,196 to his campaign, according to the Center for Responsive Politics OpenSecrets.org database. He received another $86,150 from pharmaceutical companies, $73,050 from insurance companies and $68,000 from hospitals and nursing homes.
Among Wilson’s top contributors are the American Hospital Association, a lobby group that represents the interests of hospitals and health networks, and the American Medical Association, which represents physicians.

No, your wrong. It is against the House Rules of Decorum to do what he did and he agreed to these rules when he became a rep. – like it or not those are the rules whether you like the president or not. That is why he is being reprimanded today.
He also violated his military code of ethics. All rules/choices he agreed to when he joined. So no one to blame but him for his behavior.
anger only serves the weak momentary emotions which leads to anarchy, which is why laws are written for all to adhere to.

If Mr. Wilson has something to say regarding the Health Care Bill, there is a time and place to say it. While the president is giving a speech before congress is NOT the time or place. Also, he may disagree with the President without calling the president a liar. CNN fact checkers btw, disagree with Mr. Wilson, but stopped short of calling him a liar.
Never during Bush's term did ANY democrat interrupt ANY of his speeches and look at how many times Bush lied. He lied about the WMD, about now one being told about the possible damage to done by Katrina (later we saw the pres. being lectured about the levies failing and such), about his relationship with Abrams, about wiretapping without judicial oversight, about the presence of Al-Quida in Iraq before we invaded, when he told the rescue workers at the 9/11 site that it was safe for them to work without adequate protection and so on.
Apparently, Republicans don't understand manners, civility or the importance of disagreeing without being disagreeable (as demonstrating by those sent to home town meeting to disrupt them by shouting and such).
Finally, consider that Obama is not the first to try and offer a national insurance plan. Other bleeding heart, liberals such as Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and Nixon did too. Guess they were trying to socialize our country as well! ;-)

What's new. The HOODLUMS continue to show their CLASS! We must forge ahead, educating ourselfs, and others concerning President Obama's health care proposal. Mr. Wilson, as well as many others in Washington, have been enjoying all the “PERKS” the insurance companies have to offer, campaing contribution, free vacations, and gulf outtings, for the politician, as well as their families, etc., etc. Why would they want to approve a health care reform?
President Obama's health care proposal will create competition among health care insurance providers, therefore it will create demand for fair prices, and excellence.

I also worked for Non Profit Doctors group. Their were OBGYN's, Ortho's, and General Doc's. I worked in the Collections and Billing, can not tell you how many times when you called the Insurance Company, (that we had filed a HICVA Electronicly) 5 or 6 times and their saying “We never received it”. I say, “Insurance is a Lic. to Steal!” My husband says, “Insuance Company's get rich of peoples pain and misery.” I have to agree, it is scary to think that an Insurance can control LIFE and Death. John Grishim's The Rainmaker comes to mind the book not the movie! In the book the cancer patient had a twin brother that was a perfet match and the insurance company, denie, denie denie (are you Stupid, Stupid, Stupid the insurance company told the mother of the dieing son). Maybe that is what we say to these people spreading lies about healthcare reform, ARE YOU STUPID, StUPID, STUPID? I know this is so child play groundish, but that is all that can be said! Joe Wilson is right that the statement made is a lie. An amendment in Congress to include a provision to ban health care benefits for illegals was voted down by the Democrats. Perhaps making the statement during a national speech was a faux pax, but you cannot assert that the comment was incorrect. And yes, Democrats at the inaugural were downright rude to Bush by singing Na Na Hey Hey Kiss him Goodbye and booing him. Not appropriate either. But you didn't see Bush on air afterwards demanding an apology.

Let us not look past his own voting of support Illegal’s healthcare:
2003, Wilson voted to provide federal funds for illegal immigrants’ healthcare. The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent. It’s all about the Money Joe Wilson dearly loves and puts before – the very lives of Americans, heck Joe would rather pay for the Universal Health Care in Iraq -that get better than Americans do -instead of helping his fellow Americans.
Article 31 of the Iraqi Constitution, drafted by your right-wing Bushies in 2005 and ratified by the Iraqi people, includes state-guaranteed (single payer) healthcare for life for every Iraqi citizen.
Article 31 reads:
“First: Every citizen has the right to health care. The State shall maintain public health and provide the means of prevention and treatment by building different types of hospitals and health institutions.
Second: Individuals and entities have the right to build hospitals, clinics,or private health care centers under the supervision of the State, and this shall be regulated by law.”
There are other health care guarantees, including special provisions for children, the elderly, and the handicapped elsewhere in the 43-page document.
The source document I used is from the official United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq. If you'd like to download and review the full Iraqi Constitution, click HERE
What the heck is Joe Wilson doing living in the United States when he supports the war, and thinks anyone who cat calls George W. Bush was being unpatriotic. He admits that military and VA benefits were among the best ever, but that the regular public didn't “deserve” them. Nice guy. I am certain all of his brothers in the former “Son’s of the Confederate Veterans” are proud him. (Joe Wilson was one of only seven members of the South Carolina Senate to vote to keep the Confederate battle flag flying over the state house in 2000).
Here's Joe’s the full quote in defending the honor of the flag and culture when compared to the Nazis:
“That's offensive to me that they would take my heritage and make it into a Holocaust era type description. I find that very offensive, and it's not true,” Senator Wilson said. “The Southern heritage, the Confederate heritage is very honorable.”
What a guy. Considering he has Government run health care for the rest of his life you have to give him credit. He is consistent at being inconsistent.

Even though he voted for illegals to get health care in 2003, he has the nads to say BO is lying? What a coward and liar. Do some research please and READ. No more Mr. nice guy from the general public, who must demand that E-Verify becomes a stable, in-perpetuity federal immigration enforcement tool for everybody? No half-measure, but full implementation across the country. For new workers and those who have been on the payroll forever. Why has it taken so long to coordinate this computer illegal immigrant recognition software? The answer is evidently politicians who have been manipulated by campaign money, special favors from lobbyists. They are like a Monarchy buying and selling favors for distracting the unknowing public from strong enforcement, from the border line and enforcement in the working locations throughout our nation. Significant pieces of law have been reduced to weakened, insufficient laws that do nothing for the American people. The stimulus package was compromised, with no terminology to reduce illegal workers from applying for jobs in construction and other industries. ACORN is an undesirable organization that has been headlined lately in the national press. Under surveillance and being investigated by numerous state attorney generals for possible violating voting laws and other nefarious activities? Surely the Obama administration is not contracting them to perform serious counting of the population in the 2010 US census after these accusations?
To me this is premeditated and likewise with public access to health care, because there was no restrictions to identify illegal immigrants in the package. Until yesterday the Democratic committee members realize they had been discovered and added amendments blocking illegal persons from applying, by running their names through Social Security. It's common knowledge that illegal immigrants receive free treatment in emergency hospitals, which have for decades have been exploited for any minor ailments. The main conspirators within the Democratic leadership are Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada and Nancy Pelosi House Speaker. Both represent states of mass illegal immigration. Reid for his abandonment of the American worker may soon be ousted from office? He was the main contender in the near disintegration of E-Verify. On one hand Democrats saliva over millions of extra votes if another Blanket Amnesty is enacted, while the alternate party status quo are wanting to keep an unceasing supply of illegal labor.
Running scared Pelosi and Napolitano have changed sides and displaying a different attitude towards the millions of jobless Americans, whose work has been appropriated by foreign labor. In many cases large companies have clearly knowingly hired cheap labor, in placement of citizens and legal residents. In ICE raids its positive proof that mega- businesses built their labor force on foreign nationals? Yet the majority of companies isolated themselves from major penalties and only the lesser management was punished. E-verify would have remained non-existent if it was not for the adamant pressure of bloggers comments and articles on the internet that enlivened public attention.
Believe me when I say the bombardment of American voices over the switchboards in a harassed Washington, made a extraordinary difference? THEY ACTUALLY LISTENED and the Special interest organizations couldn't even delay the courts, in ordering the en-masse contractors and sub-contractors from obeying federal law. Years of neglect by previous administrations on both sides of the aisle, has allowed the unregulated droves of foreign illegal aliens along with families into our neighborhoods. TODAY! RIGHT NOW! We must have millions more bona-fide Americans calling this number 202-224-3121 in the muck hole at the Capitol, really do have the ultimate power of changing things.
For me health care reform is a priority because family members have suffered too long under the umbrella of shady insurance companies, as being declined of pre-existing condition was a factor in my daughter’s coverage dying of cancer at an early age. But any kind of public health care must not be rationed and must not give access to people who should never entered our country illegally. E-Verify a composite of the SAVE ACT must—NOT–be devalued by the corrupt politicians in the Democratic Party, nor the 287 G. cities, county and state police training to question and apprehend foreign nationals. In conclusion, the President wants to push another path to citizenship for those who came here through the back door? Awarding people for wrongdoing is not in my book?
If it's anything like the 1986 Simpson/Mazzoli bill it was overloaded with fraud and ended up costing taxpayers billions. New immigrants must come in orderly, signing documentation that they will not be public welfare charges. Without mitigating circumstances anybody who violates this law must be deported. It makes more sense, if such legislation exists in DC to only approve entry visas, for new immigrants with heavily vetted credentials of highly skilled engineers and professional career individuals. After all, they are unlikely to become an unemployed welfare recipient? The 1986 immigration law was intentionally engineered from the beginning, but already contains important factors in enforcement of laws.
Strengthen the same 1986 laws with amendments, instead of starting again. This legislation is already on the books? The truth is that it’s not broken, but heavily under funded from the beginning and bloated with fraud. Guest worker programs and special visas for skilled tradesman has remained a nemesis. This includes fraudulent partnership of businesses entities, attorneys in hiring agricultural workers for the fields? Many have lied to the government authorities and who have been instrumental in its corrupt notorious character. If new guest workers programs enacted by a Nancy Pelosi's AGjobs bill are eminent, the applicants must be carefully screened with the knowledge that working visas on expiring, that those individuals must return to their original place of residence. That they cannot qualify for a legal resident visa, nor can America anymore accommodate their family members with chain migration?
Another anomaly is the border fence? It was—NEVER BUILT—to Rep. Duncan Hunters original specs? His short fence expanse in San Diego remains a strong classic example of following the law. Currently along our international border we have a single line fence, not a two tier fence, with a no-mans land for patrolling border patrol vehicles in between. The previous administration shall ever be haunted by the fact they installed a virtual barrier in many places, with malfunctioning cameras, sensors, obsolete vehicle barriers that could easily be maneuvered around, that cost millions of dollars in taxpayers backing. Expenditures to support illegal immigrants through corporate welfare, over generation would leave a trail of hundred dollar bills from Earth to the Moon and back again. We need to repair our collapsing infrastructure, stop the erosion of bridges, tunnels and dams. Even our water supplies are compromised by the irreversible course of OVERPOPULATION
Federal legislation must be written to correct and heavily fine states that promote Sanctuary Alcoves such as Los Angeles and San Francisco. Warning them that no funding will be appropriated who violate federal law, instead of purposely looking the other way.
The majority of these enforcement laws have been weakened, many left to rot in a dormant state at the National Archives. Immigration laws have been compromised time and time again by lobbyists offering favors to our public servants. Facts not fiction can learned at NUMBERSUSA & JUDICIAL WATCH.

Mr. Obama called EVERYONE, politicians included LIARS less than a minute earlier than Mr. Wilson called HIM on lying. Where is the outrage for Obama to apologize? While it wasn't the right place for it, it was SOOO great to FINALLY hear someone call Obama on his lies. He's so careful to speak infront of people who would never question him on his lies, that he is getting downright SMUG calling others liars.
Strange too, it's hard here online to find anything looking at it from this side, all I see is Wilson Apologized to Obama, Polosi Condemning Wilson, and Rob Miller got $1,000,000 to run against Wilson. Not one major news organization (other than Fox News and right wing papers) CARED whether it was a lie or not, only the THE ONE was called a liar. Well, if money buys the election, as Obama has shown us, maybe Wilson would be in trouble. On the other hand, I believe, like myself, those that voted for him were refreshed to hear Obama called out. I have a hard time believing even $1,000,000,000 could beat Wilson after this. (So you can stop the rush order from the US Mint to print it up, Democrats) Perhaps if Obama talked Acorn into giving half the money he's giving them to Miller, it may help. Hang in there, it'll get worst before it gets better, Mr. Wilson. What do you think? Palin/Wilson 2012? Maybe…

My God, the sheep are THICK in here. A mess, maybe, but you don't clean up a glass of spilled milk, by dumping the gallon jug on it. If you want to stimulate an economy, you don't have trillions of dollars stretched out over 4 years. That's not stimulus, it's BRIBES! If less than 4% of the CITIZENS of the US (12 Million) have trouble getting insurance, you don't take over the whole system. You can keep your Dr and insurance company? HOW? How is it possible to compete with an entity that doesn't have to worry about showing a profit, or going bankrupt? One that can just print more money when they run out? People… THINK! Think past the first step of an action.

Somehow, I doubt you were one of the ones that voted for him, so doubt he lost a vote. Your entry oozes with the intelligence of a typical democrat. Joe has no reason to come after you, you're entitled to your opinion, Obama, on the other hand, is calling everyone liars, and until then, has no one near him to call him on it. He was long overdue to be called a liar. While I'll agree where he did it was wrong, it's refreshing to hear someone do it where he knew everyone was listening.

I say you get rid of them all…democrats and republicans alike. It is so easy for one side to blame the other for the problems that exist. During the last presidency when the republicans controled it all they made a mess of it. So then the republicans lost congress to the democrats and the mess continued. So now we blame everything on Bush, ignoring the fact that the President can't do anything without congress, which was a democrat congress for the last 2 years of his term. So of course we now have a democrat President with a demorcatic congress, and yet, still things just keep getting worse. And instead of holding the democrats responsible, since they have a filibuster proof congress, we take our fustration out on any republican who disagrees with President Obama. I say vote indepent for everyone for the next 4 years. Things won't change unless the people make it change through our votes/voices.

I think most people have rose colored glasses. I am not sure if you have everything right augisfat. No one impeached Bush because the majority of the country supported him and you can't impeach someone unless they do something you can prove unlawful or the majoirty wants him out. They crucified Clinton because they were able to prove he broke laws while trying to cover up his poor choices. During Clinton term there were at least 3 terroist attacks on US soil that I know of…after 9/11 during Bush's term there were no attacks on US soil. That doesn't sound like destroying the country to me.
And Social security is going bankrupt, Medicare is going bankrup, Car companies went bankrupt after the government gave them billions, the govenrment made a 850 billion stimulus which did nothing to help solve the problem of people losing their homes, and on top of all this the government is trillions of dollars in debt….so why would anyone want the government to run a single payer health care system when they have done so many other things wrong to the point of trillions of dollars of debt which keeps increasing.

Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord!! Pray for President Obama that God will direct his steps for indeed the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Then pray that these United States of America will humble themselves seek Gods face turn from their wicked ways then we will hear from heaven and God will heal this land. As for Mr Wilson, he was out of order and God is a God of order, its so strange to me that people are biting and devouring one another the most surprising are those that say they are Christians. God have mercy on us.

President Obama was a United States Senator for the last 2 years of Bush's presidency, which means Obama was one of the people who helped to run this country into the ground. This country…the greatest of them all, is not run by one man. The president cannot do anything of significance without the approval/support of congress or the people. If you don't like what Bush did, then you can't just blame him, you should also blame congress which Obama was a part of. And if Obama couldn't make a difference in the senate why would you think he would do a better job as president?

No wonder our politicians are so screwed up, we the people lose our focus and become so hateful when we hear thigns we don't like that politicians don't really have to be held accoutnable. Rather than debate the issues of the bill we have so many people just calling Wilson (and republicans) names. How is that going to solve anything?
Let's assume Wilson was wrong…does he deserve Hell for making a mistake, for being disrespectful? That seems like a cruel and unusual punishment for calling someone a liar. And I can only speak for myself, not the nation when I say I feel no shame becuase he called Obama a liar during his speech. I do agree that it was probably the wrong time/place to do it, but I know I have done similar things realizing later that maybe it wasn't the best time/place to say it.

You can't expect to clean up the mess that was left overnight. By the way I don't remember the last president ever trying to help with the major needs of the people like healthcare, or why all of a sudden banks were handing out loans like candy to those who they knew could not afford them(which is why this country “appeared” to be booming), I do remember him trying to phase out social security & telling everyone to invest, invest, invest in the 401K. well that one got everybody nowhere quick. so we shall see.

By SCOTT HARRINGTON
In his speech to Congress last week, President Barack Obama attempted to sell a reform agenda by demonizing the private health-insurance industry, which many people love to hate. He opened the attack by asserting: “More and more Americans pay their premiums, only to discover that their insurance company has dropped their coverage when they get sick, or won't pay the full cost of care. It happens every day.”
Clearly, this should never happen to anyone who is in good standing with his insurance company and has abided by the terms of the policy. But the president's examples of people “dropped” by their insurance companies involve the rescission of policies based on misrepresentation or concealment of information in applications for coverage. Private health insurance cannot function if people buy insurance only after they become seriously ill, or if they knowingly conceal health conditions that might affect their policy.

Traditional practice, governed by decades of common law, statute and regulation is for insurers to rely in underwriting and pricing on the truthfulness of the information provided by applicants about their health, without conducting a costly investigation of each applicant's health history. Instead, companies engage in a certain degree of ex post auditing—conducting more detailed and costly reviews of a subset of applications following policy issue—including when expensive treatment is sought soon after a policy is issued.
This practice offers substantial cost savings and lower premiums compared to trying to verify every application before issuing a policy, or simply paying all claims, regardless of the accuracy and completeness of the applicant's disclosure. Some states restrict insurer rescission rights to instances where the misrepresented or concealed information is directly related to the illness that produced the claim. Most states do not.
To highlight abusive practices, Mr. Obama referred to an Illinois man who “lost his coverage in the middle of chemotherapy because his insurer found he hadn't reported gallstones that he didn't even know about.” The president continued: “They delayed his treatment, and he died because of it.”
Although the president has used this example previously, his conclusion is contradicted by the transcript of a June 16 hearing on industry practices before the Subcommittee of Oversight and Investigation of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The deceased's sister testified that the insurer reinstated her brother's coverage following intervention by the Illinois Attorney General's Office. She testified that her brother received a prescribed stem-cell transplant within the desired three- to four-week “window of opportunity” from “one of the most renowned doctors in the whole world on the specific routine,” that the procedure “was extremely successful,” and that “it extended his life nearly three and a half years.”
The president's second example was a Texas woman “about to get a double mastectomy when her insurance company canceled her policy because she forgot to declare a case of acne.” He said that “By the time she had her insurance reinstated, her breast cancer more than doubled in size.”
The woman's testimony at the June 16 hearing confirms that her surgery was delayed several months. It also suggests that the dermatologist's chart may have described her skin condition as precancerous, that the insurer also took issue with an apparent failure to disclose an earlier problem with an irregular heartbeat, and that she knowingly underreported her weight on the application.
These two cases are presumably among the most egregious identified by Congressional staffers' analysis of 116,000 pages of documents from three large health insurers, which identified a total of about 20,000 rescissions from millions of policies issued by the insurers over a five-year period. Company representatives testified that less than one half of one percent of policies were rescinded (less than 0.1% for one of the companies).
If existing laws and litigation governing rescission are inadequate, there clearly are a variety of ways that the states or federal government could target abuses without adopting the president's agenda for federal control of health insurance, or the creation of a government health insurer.
Later in his speech, the president used Alabama to buttress his call for a government insurer to enhance competition in health insurance. He asserted that 90% of the Alabama health-insurance market is controlled by one insurer, and that high market concentration “makes it easier for insurance companies to treat their customers badly—by cherry-picking the healthiest individuals and trying to drop the sickest; by overcharging small businesses who have no leverage; and by jacking up rates.”
In fact, the Birmingham News reported immediately following the speech that the state's largest health insurer, the nonprofit Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, has about a 75% market share. A representative of the company indicated that its “profit” averaged only 0.6% of premiums the past decade, and that its administrative expense ratio is 7% of premiums, the fourth lowest among 39 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans nationwide.
Similarly, a Dec. 31, 2007, report by the Alabama Department of Insurance indicates that the insurer's ratio of medical-claim costs to premiums for the year was 92%, with an administrative expense ratio (including claims settlement expenses) of 7.5%. Its net income, including investment income, was equivalent to 2% of premiums in that year.
In addition to these consumer friendly numbers, a survey in Consumer Reports this month reported that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama ranked second nationally in customer satisfaction among 41 preferred provider organization health plans. The insurer's apparent efficiency may explain its dominance, as opposed to a lack of competition—especially since there are no obvious barriers to entry or expansion in Alabama faced by large national health insurers such as United Healthcare and Aetna.
Responsible reform requires careful analysis of the underlying causes of problems in health insurance and informed debate over the benefits and costs of targeted remedies. The president's continued demonization of private health insurance in pursuit of his broad agenda of government expansion is inconsistent with that objective.

I am not goign to try to defend Bush because I believe the problems goes way beyond 1 person. I beleive things have gotten worse because our government has been growing and spending more money they have, which can never be a good thing in the long run. And I agree many things can't be fixed overnight, but I don't see how spending 850 billion dollars is teh way to fix things when we are already trillion of dollars in debt. I don't see anything Obama, or the congress doing is helping to fix things. The primary problem was people losing their homes….yet less than 10% of the 1.5 trillion dollars (from bush and obama) stimulus plan was actually used for this. And people are still losing their homes. How come people aren't still outraged by this..not some politician calling another politican a liar. I mean, come on….what politiician is not a liar…even the good ones have been caught in a lie or two.

One of the Republicans has said a lame excuse that , Rep Joe doesn't deserve house rebuke because he is decent and has served 25 years in the congress. That is okay and he should know how to behave to the president. If a student breaks school rule he or she faces punish on the spot.It is the same thing to the congress and house. So don't tell me that Rep joe is decent and has served for long time. That's nonsense. It is good for Rep Joe to set us a good example by allowing the House to rebuke him. Good job House

This is very dissapointing. We have many democratic politicians who have actually broken laws, specifically Geitner, who ironically ended up being the Secretary of Treasury even though he didnt pay his taxes. Yet, has Fred ever mentioned that Geitner should have not accepted the office, or be asked to resign, of course not because Fred is a democrat. So now a Republican showed poor taste and therefore should punished. Where is the equality and partisanship in that?

I know you support Rep joe but what he did was completely wrong. No one has ever done such a thing to the president of the U.S. I hope Rep Joe learned a lesson when he faces the house rebuke.Letting him to face house rebuke sets a good example to his collegues in the house and congress. That is what American people want.

I am not sure what you mean by support. I think what he did was in poor etiquette, and I believe a fine would be an appropirate consequence for him breaking house protocal. But I don't believe he should lose his position solely on one case of poort etiquette. Especially when you compare this to all the other politicians who have actually broken laws and oaths of fidelity, yet remain.
I also think the American people would be better served with getting rid of all these politicans and voting independant(or other small party) for the next 6 years. But unfortuantely most Americans are in the disbeleif that their party is the right party, even though both parties are only interested in keep themselves in power and money.

I could care less if he apologizes to the Barack Obama or not, He owes the institution of the Presidency the apology. But remember, apologies should be sincere and honest and not forced. Now if Joe actually had the backbone he claims to have, he would have told the GOP leadership to go to hell when they told him to do it. That is if the “passion” as he out it was so great. This just shows the bucking of the system the GOP is exhibiting because they are no longer in total control as they have been in the past. It's like a child that has their toys taken and cries until you give them back. I guess it would not look so bad if anyone else did this, but it came from a man that called the late Sen. Thurmond's out of wed-lock black daughter a “smear on his legacy”. It seems that he is the poster child for the longing of old southern ways. Especially being a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I had heard of this organization before, but this has made me do a little more research on them. This is the info I found on their web-site.
What is the Sons of Confederate Veterans?
The citizen-soldiers who fought for the Confederacy personified the best qualities of America. The preservation of liberty and freedom was the motivating factor in the South's decision to fight the Second American Revolution. The tenacity with which Confederate soldiers fought underscored their belief in the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. These attributes are the underpinning of our democratic society and represent the foundation on which this nation was built
If you are interested in perpetuating the ideals that motivated your Confederate ancestor, the SCV needs you. The memory and reputation of the Confederate soldier, as well as the motives for his suffering and sacrifice, are being consciously distorted by some in an attempt to alter history. Unless the descendants of Southern soldiers resist those efforts, a unique part of our nations' cultural heritage will cease to exist.
At what point do we move forward? I did not vote for Pres. Bush, but I supported him because he was my Commander-In-Chief. I have served this country and will proudly do it again. But I say you don't have to respect the person, but you do have to respect the office. We always down other countries about the way they act and we seem to be doing it more and more. Seems like more and more we adopt the “do as I say and not as I do” doctrine when it comes to the rest of the worlds policies and beliefs. I am a person who has made many countless mistakes and in no way judge anyone, but I do respect my fellow man. I love every American, I might not like them but I will fight to protect them. We are all adopted children of this country unless you are of Native American descent. This is still the greatest country on this planet and I will fight for it at the drop of a dime. I have also witnessed that the individual is a smart individual but the group together adopts mob mentality. I pray and hope that we can get past this and do what is best for America as a whole and not our individual bank accounts.
God Bless America

What Representative Wilson did had absolutely nothing to do with his “speaking up”, or his sentiments, madam. Contributing to an election (or re-election in the case of Rep. But the sacred walls of where the United States Congress meets is no place for barbarian-like behavior.
