Kucinich to Take On the “Bureaucracy of Private Health Insurance”

As congressional Republicans continue to warn that the Democrats’ health reform plans would “put government bureaucrats between you and your doctor,” Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) is planning an examination of the bureaucrats who are there now: the private insurers.

In two hearings scheduled for next week, Kucinich, who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform subpanel on domestic policy, will probe how the red tape of insurance companies affects patient care. On Wednesday, witnesses will include patients and doctors, no doubt with horror stories about denied claims and enormous medical bills. On Thursday, representatives from some of the nation’s largest insurers will have the chance to make their own case.

The hearings are aptly titled, “Between You and Your Doctor: the Bureaucracy of Private Health Insurance.”

I was wondering when Rep. Kucinich would pop his head up into health care reform. He was actually my primary choice for president in 2008, but I think he is more effective in the House.

It's amusing to me when the people on the right start talking about public insurance getting in the way of you and your doctor, and also the entire rationing care argument. Don't these people realize that this already exists in the private plans. Can't they fathom that a for profit health system might not have patient care as its top priority? Or are they too blinded by the neo-liberal rhetoric that the invisible hand is the best driving force in any situation. Their mantra being “Laissez faire or die, bitches.”

It's not the rationing (getting between someone and their doctor) that bothers them; it's getting between someone and their 7-8-9 figure salary/bonus, return on investment, or campaign contribution that bothers them.

* THE FINE ART OF DENYING 45 MILLION AMERICANS HEALTH~CARE IN OUR JUDEO~CHRISTIAN NATION *

AMERICAN RELIGIOUS LEADERS ALL ACROSS THE USA HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO COUNT ON THEIR RELIGIOUS FLOCK TO CONTRIBUTE(TITHE)THEIR HARD EARNED MONIES TO THEIR MINISTRIES EVERY WEEK.

THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS ATTENDING RELIGIOUS SERVICES IN THE U.S. ARE MIDDLE~CLASS AND WORKING POOR CITIZENS WHO NOW DESPERATELY NEED THE HELP AND SUPPORT FROM THESE SAME U.S.RELIGIOUS LEADERS IN LOBBYING THE U.S.CONGRESS TO PROVIDE PROPER HEALTH~CARE FOR ALL POORER AMERICANS.

***THERE ARE CURRENTLY AN ESTIMASTED 45 MILLION MEN WOMAN AND CHILDREN WITHOUT HEALTH~CARE IN THE WEALTHIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD????

SILENT AMERICAN RELIGIOUS LEADERS WHO ALL HAVE HEALTH~CARE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES IS MUCH MORE FRIGHTENING THEN THE POSSIBLE DENIAL OF A FUTURE HEALTH~CARE PLAN FOR ALL…

The answer should be obvious. However, a striking number of Americans seem oblivious to the profit-driven corporate bureaucracy of private health insurance and the harmful self-serving motives of the corporate bureaucrats in charge of it.
