Reid’s Seat Now a ‘Toss Up’ in 2010

It’s no news that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is facing a difficult reelection bid next year. Still, as recently as Sept. 3, the Cook Political Report, a well-respected election handicapper, had the seat nestled snugly in the “likely Democrat” column.
But that was a week ago. Today Cook updated its map to rank Reid’s seat a “toss up.” Would voters oust someone as powerful as Reid in favor of a freshman lawmaker? Ask Tom Daschle if it’s ever happened before.

I lived in Nevada from 1990 to 2004, and in that time, Reid was beginning to wane in popularity by 2000. He's so stone-faced, it's hard to get passionate about him. His actions in the Senate are “sedate” to say the least. He's like water, takes the path of least resistance. I suppose that's why you never hear of him much, unless he happens to be in front of a camera, which isn't often.
So all this comes as no surprise. What with Ensign ready to say bye-bye to politics, they have two seats to fill. Poor Nevada. Glad I'm not there anymore.
