The Baucus Health Reform Draft

The Hill’s Jeffrey Young scores big with an 18-page draft summary (PDF) of the health reform legislation being drafted, ever-so-carefully, by a small group from the Senate Finance Committee, headed by Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.).

Described as “a framework of a plan for consideration” by the Gang of Six, the plan proposes to tax private insurers for high-cost plans (an idea that’s anathema to the insurance industry and many Republicans), but would also create regional non-profit health care cooperatives in lieu of a public plan — a win for the industry, which is fighting tooth and nail to kill House legislation that pushes the public option. Stay tuned….

Obama’s health-care promises are being exposed by the details of the actual legislation, and we WILL see costs rise. Support the goal of covering all individuals through private health insurance! http://www.friendsoftheuschamber.com/issues/ind…

A much wiser idea is to take a long hard look at the entire health insurance industry and then work to remedy the situation by taking out the waste and creating new, innovative ideas that would be a benefit for all.
