At no time was there ever an incident at the Embassy due to poor English but it was an ongoing challenge that has only gotten worse as the new contract awared to Armor Group was roughly 5 millon per year less than the contract I was operating on and when you cut costs this dramatically and it translates to salaries (the biggest overall cost) it ensures that you can only recruit less qualified and skilled people.

As the former commander of the Embassy Guard force, during the time when MVM was training to take over the role of protecting the Embassy I can tell you that it was more than just language that concerned the RSO and his staff but it was an easy trigger to cancel the contract just before Christmas 2005. MVM never performed any security duties at the Embassy. During my time as the project manager I instituted mandated language training twice weekly for all Nepalese guards to ensure their language proficiency was up to the required standard, however I must also admit that there was an ongoing recrutiing challenge as there are only so many ex-British Army Gurkhas and we began to suffer the same fait as many other PSC's and allowed ex-Indian Army Gurkhas whose language skills are far below their British counterparts to creep into the mix. When I started as the project manager we had roughly 12 non-British Army Gurkhas, when I left I had 48 out of 250 total Gurkhas on the contract hence the language lessons.

Here's a good inside look at the static Kabul embassy security contract from someone who has supervised that particular detail.
I know Tim Lynch can be a real "wingnut" sometimes but he usually has interesting and insightful things to say about security contracting in In Iraq and Afghanistan.

http://blog.freerangeinternational.com/
