Throwing No Bones

The statement from Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) following today’s health policy teleconference with other “Gang of Six” members relays precisely nothing new. In its entirety:
Today’s call was a productive one. We addressed a number of issues at hand and the next steps moving forward. Health reform is certainly a significant challenge and each time we talk, we are reminded just how many areas of agreement exist. We agree we need to take control of health care costs and make health insurance affordable for families and small businesses. We agree all Americans should be able to choose – and be able to afford – a quality health care plan. And, we agree health care reform should be fiscally responsible and not add to the deficit.
After a month in our states, we’ll sit down together on Tuesday, take stock of where we are and determine how to best pass real reform. I am committed to getting health care reform done – done soon and done right.

And WE agree that unless you get a PUBLIC OPTION, the Democratic majority will be tossed OUT ON ITS HEAD in 2010, and Obama will be a one term President.
We aren't fooling around. I don't give a damn if that means we go back to Republican rule. We gave you an overwhelming majority for a reason. Use it or lose it.
The notion that you'd pass a bill that merely guarantees this criminal industry a windfall in 45 million new premium payers, many subsidized by taxpayers, and we would get nothing in return for it except some nonsense about not canceling coverage when we're sick, something that should be required by law in the first place before we even start negotiating, is not gonna fly out here where people are suffering.
WE DEMAND A PUBLIC OPTION.
We've compromised away negotiating drug prices. We've compromised away re-importing drugs. We compromised away extending Medicare. We compromised away single payer. We compromised away regulating the insurance industry to make them do what people are paying them to do. NO MORE COMPROMISES. PERIOD.

The gang of six as they are now well known with Snowe being one of the Republican that is much more like a Democrat. Even the Democrats see her as closer to them then her own party.
It is the feeling of many Americans, we are getting shafted with a government options. The Obama Democrats, are evil to the point they are not forthright. They claim things are not in the bills they are writing. The illegals have been included in the Health Care Bill. The Democrat deny it but when you go to the bill is stares you in the face. So many times we the American people are told to listen and obey, those that write these bills.
Stand up to these liars, do not believe without verification. They are all clothed in holiness to hear them. The opposite is true with brimstone enveloping them.
Should we get a bill make sure it is for Americans and will not increase our debt on the working man. So far it appears the bills they are writing will be put on the middle class.

We can all turn the air blue with exasperation, but I have come to the saturation point with standing in the audience time and time expecting a good prize fight, and suddenly realize, once again, the fight has been fixed. The audience I am standing in is the Democratic Party. You know, the dummies who were conned. The rubes who were swindled.
The only way to confront Baucus is to do so by direct confrontation from the rubes. Demand answers as citizens and not as roped and corralled constituents. You could appeal to your congressman, any one of the Democratic Congressmen who have long had too many facets polished–you could do that, and ensure that your voice will go the way of the wind, while the Right is busy appealing most rudely to all Congressmen except their own.
A solution, like many others, is possible to counter the subversive elements who are already out there. It is not for the lack of a strategy or even decent tactics that prevents the audience from storming the boxing office for their money back–it is the lack of political will. “Political Will” is often a sterling metaphor in some debates, but in this case it is one of euphemism: 'political will' sounds better than 'will,' especially in “the lack of will.”
Whatever solution is ever used to stop corporations from acting like guerrilla squads, or whether none is, one thing to me is sure: unless there is a press by the press, unless there is responsible journalism to alert the rubes, unless there is energy and courage and committment to counter the thuggery already out there, out there organized and galvanized (and paid) and intimidating dissent, the people will suffer the final solution of loss of their country, the permanent changing of America into another country, a lesser one, a shell, a corporately napalmed cinder. We will have been hostily taken over, broken up and sold off.
There is nothing to lose if you are a committed journalist–NOW is the big one, speaking journalistically. If truth to power is your creed–and not pretty boy prostitute for high money–this is the one you have been waiting for. This is the big fight. You should have already guessed that when you saw actors carrying automatic weapons in the crowd the President of the United States was speaking to. When the press calls such people “nuts,” the press has failed. The job of the press used to be to see from which witchery such a composite was sent. Like many classic wars the press in this country has engaged in, this one necessitates rolled-up sleeves, lots of lamps and coffee, and development of a tool, an intelligence front to learn the identities of those engaged in stifling dissent by brown-shirt hostility. When a member of the press sees a “nut” acting out, he should determine from whence this creature came, and he must resist all efforts to refer to him as a “nut.” The government among others will always attempt to disseminate “nut” to ensure closure of any bonfire, but the more the press desists, the less effective that tactic will be. It is huge, but identity is everything in dealing with these tactics. Identity is everything.
The only protection possible to a vibrant and thriving free journalism and freedom of speech (which is constitutionally noted, but which is actually most PROTECTED by the press) must come from the rubes themselves. Obama himself has seen that only the people can save the country. There is nobody else.
