Weiner: Fate of Public Plan Is in Obama’s Hands
Friday, September 04, 2009 at 10:25 am
Here’s Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), who’s leading the lonely congressional push for single-payer health care, telling MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Thursday that, without an emphatic push from President Obama next week, the public option is dead.
If he stands up Wednesday and says, “To the country and to my colleagues in Congress, we are going to have a public option in this plan because we need and here’s why,” it’s going to get done. If he doesn’t, we’re going to have to settle for less and that will be a tragedy.
Obama will address a joint session of Congress Wednesday to lay out more specific health policy demands than he’s done to date.

I would like to thank Rep. Anthony Weiner for his brave fight for us, for single-payer healthcare. I am so disappointed that our new President is going to cave, even on the public option. I'm 62 years old and have insurance, although it is very expensive and with a $10,000 deductable. I am lucky to be able to afford my insurance, but I feel so sorry for all of the Americans who don't have insurance. Their lives must be full of stress. I also wonder what the future will bring for my children and grandchildren without options for insurance.
Thank you again Rep. Weiner. Please keep up your hardwork for us.

I have e-mailed both my New Jersey Senators with a simple one sentence thought. Without a Public Option No Deal!

If Obama doesn't come through, I say primary him in 2012 and replace him with Weiner.
