South Dakotans need to realize that, if we have to make significant cuts, a plan to “scale back bureaucracy” is not going to be sufficient. The vast majority of our general fund budget is spent on education, Medicaid, and public safety. Significant cuts will require us to make tough choices about what programs and services to continue.

To bad the Democrats fielded a candidate that is much farther to the left than the people he would represent. That in itself will keep him from getting the job.

Craigslist founder, Craig Newmark, recently wrote about this site on the Huffington Post. I thought it sounded like a great fusion of politics and technology - and worth passing along:

http://ObamaTravel.org — real grassroots democracy

"Hey, this is a good example of genuine grassroots democracy:

http://ObamaTravel.org is a platform that connects volunteers who want to travel to a swing state with financial sponsors and swing state host families. It’s sort of a political hybrid of craigslist and Team-in-Training - volunteers post profiles and solicit sponsorship from their family and friends. Sponsors can see their donations in action by following the activities of their volunteers.

... and let's remember that "community organizing" is pure grassroots democracy."

To those people who said they are now going to be voting for McCain/Palin just because the Democrats didn't select Hillary for their nomination, and the Republicans did select a woman.... please read this carefully,

"By selecting a VP candidate who has nothing more in common with Hillary Clinton than ovaries, McCain just slapped 18 million people in the face. "PUMAs" should be furious that the Republicans are co-opting Clinton's landmark campaign in order to elect a candidate that believes the exact opposite of everything Hillary stood for."

....and the recent McCain/Palin remarks prove it.

We can no longer afford 4 more years of the same. This next presidency will be an important one and will have major impact on America for decades to come.

We MUST vote for a Democratic President this Nov.4. We cannot allow them to take our freedom of choice. We cannot allow McCain/Palin to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

We cannot have 4 more years of lies and corruption, 4 more years of the same.

Enough is enough. It's time to take our beloved America back. It's time to elect Barack Obama President of the United States of America and regain our standing in the world.

Republicans have lied to us and destroyed middle America. We the middle class need to have a strong supporter. Obama/Biden will give us that voice.

Vote Obama/Biden on Nov.4. We cannot risk our future and our children's future with McSame/Palin.

ALTHOUGH THE CONCERN RE: A RIGHT WING SUPREME COURT IS VERY VALID AND IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER, WE NEeD TO REMEMBER THAT NO PRESiEDENTIAL NOMINATION FOR SUPREME COURT JUDGE CAN PASS WITHOUT THE CONGRESS' APPROVAL. As long as we have a democratic congress we have a good balance of power and a republican president will not be at liberty to appoint a very right wing judge.
