Safe Seat Dem: ‘I Took On My Own Party’

An interesting scene from a health care town hall held by Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa), a Democrat who easily won a House seat in 2006 in a district carried by John Kerry (53-46) and Barack Obama (58-41).

I have taken on my own party on this issue, which wanted to have a House vote on this bill before we recessed in the end of July. And I and a lot of my colleagues said no.

Again, striking rhetoric from a fairly liberal Democrat who isn’t seen to be in much danger next year.
