Obtained: The RNC’s Health Care Survey
Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 12:00 pm
I just chatted with Raymond Denny, the 64-year-old La Center, Wash., man who received the RNC’s “2009 Future of American Health Survey,” which alleged that President Obama’s health reform plans might discriminate against Republicans. Here’s the survey question:

“I’ve been getting these things for years,” said Denny, who opened the letter with his wife Louise, “getting them from the Republicans, getting them from the Democratic Party, usually with the wrong name on it. This thing says I’m a sustaining member. They word these things to solicit the answer they wanted. This one here we looked at and said, ‘Wow, that’s way beyond the pale of what should be done.’”
Denny confirmed that he’s a “lifelong independent” who became a Democrat last year to vote for Obama. “I’m a fiscal and constitutional conservative,” he said, although he hasn’t made up his mind on the health care debate yet. “I don’t know why I got this. Maybe something in my demographic or something convinced them that I was a lifelong Republican.”
Click on the pages below to see larger .jpg images of them.
UPDATE: Here’s the cover letter from RNC chairman Michael Steele. Again, click on the images to see larger versions.

“Does it concern you that the liberal media has gone to unprecedented levels to only give Obama's views on health care reform and no one else's?”
Do sentient beings actually buy this crap? Unprecedented would be the way protesters were ignored before the invasion of Iraq. Now? The town hall nuts have been given an unbelievable amount of coverage, and the chance to repeat every nonsense talking point they hear from their propaganda outlet of choice.
This “survey” reads like an exercise in projection by pathological liars. Wonder why that is?

If the dam breaks, the fright-wing would say “we need to fix it”, all while sitting back on the couch watching another Lucy rerun. – Get your heads out of your 1950s' a$$es and stop being obstructionists!

As a registered Republican I've gotten letters similar to this however I haven't received this one yet. The 2 things all these types of letters have in common are there request for money to show support and extremely conservative slant in the way they are written. So far every letter I've received since the election has done nothing but make mad because it's obvious that the GOP didn't learn anything with the outcome of the last election when lots of Republicans voted for Obama because we wanted a change in many of this governments policies.
As for the questions on the survey, they aren't written to get information. These questions are written to instill more unfounded fear.

I'm stunned, and yet not so much, by this. The slant of the majority of these questions is unbelievable and sophomoric. I'd say Steele and the RNC should be ashamed, but I realize they have none. They'll get the surveys back and then the real leaders of the wing nuts, Rush and Beck, will talk about how “so many Americans are against the Democrats plan” and their sheep will repeat their bleating ad nauseum.

rcrft:
Just the sort of facts and figures you would expect from the bubble buster professor.
I do not accept for the moment that the villainy among the health insurers Speaker Pelosi was ranting about was specifically that they are “gouging” the American public for their own gain, ‘villainy’ is not limited to salary compensation and industry profit. Her McCarthistic remarks towards the Heath care industry I am sure were more towards their monopolistic practices in respect to the insured and the millions that are left out due to them. However if the professor wishes to claim that the compensation due to the select CEO’s is evidenced that they are paying too little:
Ronald Williams – 21.7 = Weekly: $467,309.85
Ed Hanaway -12.2 = Weekly: $235,321.93
Michael McCallister-5.3=Weekly:$91,621.33
Angela Braly -6.1= Weekly:$189,310.02
Stephan Hemsley-3.3= Weekly: $62,327.73
As compared to(?) why then it is interesting but hardly a bubble buster.

I love the “Republican plan to give businesses tax credits to help them pay for health insurance.” That tax credit started under Truman, most likely. Without it, there is no employer-based system. That's right, government got into our healthcare way back. And there was basically a bipartisan consensus that, since the Republicans had successfully blocked single-payer, at least they could continue the employer-based systems that arose during World War II.

1)What would you say if you knew your CONSERVATIVE SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN WANT TO KILL MORE AMERICANS THAN SIX 9/11 TERRORIST ATTACKS? 18,000 people DIE EACH YEAR because they can't afford our outrageously expensive health care.
2) AND WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IF YOU KNEW YOUR POLITICIAN WAS WILLING TO IGNORE THAT TRAGIC PILE OF 18,000 BODIES FOR A HUGE WAD OF $$$$$$$$$ FROM THE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY? The health care industry's Congressman hooker in my district, for example, has gotten over $2 MILLION to lie and sell out the people he's supposed to represent.
Actually, this isn't really the same as the Repug push poll, because the above is actually TRUE. But unlike most the Conservatives in question, I have a conscience and can't bring myself to lie –even for something like this, where no one would be harmed.
What did the Repub op who spent time in jail for illegal campaign tricks (a la Rove) say about his Party? something like…. they lie and cheat and if truth tries to raise it's head they stomp it and strangle it to death.

Perhaps you should look at the lines and try to find a doctor that will accept Medicare/Medicaid patients. Or you should look at the care of the VA. Also look at the unfunded liabilities of the VA/Medicare and know that it is BROKE — no cashola. Obama knows this and is going to fix our healthcare the same way.
If you want a policy weed, how many jobs do you have? Do you have a boat? Multiple cars? A home of your own? All of us have choices to make. Why are you wanting to force me to pay for your care? I would rather keep my own money to pay for my own family's care.
Keep your hand out of my pocket leach.

It's much like the commercials for mortgage companies that pretend to be part of a newscast. Pure slime, and you should be ashamed if you put things like this together. Stick NOT A POLL, JUST FUNDRAISING LIES in 24-point type on top of it and then we can talk.

It has nothing to do with whether the questions asked are legitimate poll questions or not. They are designed to infuriate those who are in a comfortable position in life to believe that they are “gonna have to pay for everything” and begin the search to uncover reasons why they shouldnt have to.One could say the same thing about *any* tax or government deduction from your weekly earnings.”Why should I have to pay for the Interstate repair, when I never drive on the Interstate? or maybe,”Why should I have to pay school taxes since my kids dont go to school anymore?”See how far those arguments will get you with your local township, parish, etc, the IRS or your state government should you try to use them.Taxes,or however you wish to term public works deductions from weekly paychecks have *never* been about what whether the cause was beneficial to the individual paying it.Mandatory deductions have always been for “socialist” purposes. After all you *are* part of society, correct?

I grew up under the veterns health system and it was impossible and horrible care. Medicare FYI is BROKE as are all the other programs,. IT is very IMMORAL to not give someone health care, which we do, but it is more immoral to allow our nation to go bankrupt, then where will we be?

The government already has access to my voter registration. The government is where the GOP, and the Dems and the NOTAs (None of the Above), go to purchase the mailing lists to send out “surveys” like this to registered voters! And, since the American political pendulum always swings back, in 8-12 years the GOP will be running the Government Health Monopoly and can have the Death Panel approve – nay, mandate – euthanasia and abortions for all Dems.

Don’t you understand with private insurance you are putting millions of dollars into the pockets of the big shots, also the lobbyists and of course the companies that make the drugs. If I had paid cash for my bone scan it would have cost $80, medicare was billed $240 and they settled for $140 plus my 20%co-pay, more than a 100% markup, and you are happy with with that deal. Who do you think is paying for all the emergency care and people that can’t pay and file bankruptcy. My Canadians friends two who are R.N.s and their families are very pleased with their health care. The ones who come over the border are no doubt the ones with the big bucks, people can.t believe you can lose your home over medical bills.I would also like to know if we stop abortion what is your plan to rais eall these children who will be going into the welfare system

I am a legal immigrant now a citizen whose entire family is in England and they are more than happy with their healthcare. I guess you don't mind paying for all the emergency care that poor people are getting. I make enough money to live decently but feel for those who don't. At 79, post heart attack, with coverage under Medicare/HMO, I've got mine! What a selfish thought that would be if I truly felt it. I get pretty cynical about the wording of the Republican propaganda, but why doesn't some enlightened liberal make a chart of the European health statistics and try to refute the outrageous Rep. claims (like Stephan Hawkings would not have survived in G.B, while the opposite is more likely, and G.B. denies care to older heart patients, despite indignant refutals by those who received excellent care in spite of their advanced age.)? I would like to see some hard facts on costs in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, the Scandinavian countries, and all other countries that rank above the U.S. in general and specific health specifics. Then let's also compare costs and benefits in the far East, including India, Australia, and Thailand, and finally the Middle East, Africa, and South America. Refusing to learn from other countries is short-sighted and leaves us open to ridicule, especially with the outrageous claims by Palin and her ilk. I took my gravely ill husband to Thailand to spend the last 7 months of his life, and we got superb help, while I could not even possibly have coped if we had remained in the U.S.

Here is a statistic for you. Costa Rica, a developing country, pays $6000 a year per person for their socialized health care while the US pays roughly $8000 a year per person right now so ob- viously something is wrong. Preventavive health care keeps the costs down for everyone involved. Which is better paying $50 in taxes for a preventative mamogram or $20,000 down the road for a women who lost her job and is relying on our tax money for her chemo and hospital stays. In addition the US's infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba and Poland so obviously something is wrong and needs to be fixed here.
Comment posted September 2, 2009 @ 9:28 pm
Do you realize how much money $6,000 is in a third world country like Costa Rica? That's basically most people's entire salary down there; the equivalent of say $30,000 here in the U.S.

I am not suprised at all. Most of the stuff that comes from the republican party these days is dog crap gift wrapped. The should switch there symbol to an ape instead of the elephant to help epitomize their primative behavior. These past two years they have been a broken record about money, whether its extending unemployment for those in need, lubricating the squeaky economy, or helping people pay for healthcare. Yet they never complain about the amount of money dumped into the wars and defense contractors. I can appreciate those against abortion, but some of them are so against it, birth control, gay marriage/adoption but fail to grasp the correlations or address the expense like healthcare for children. I hope the party dies. They wanna cry about how much everything costs, but roll back laws that will inevitable roll back again. Its like they can't see past 8 years or something. Same with the drug laws. Newsflash. Alcohol and Prescription drugs kill far more people than the illegal drugs. I would be embarrassed to be a republican right now. They look like primative apes with no brains, no heart and sick with greed.

I was in Europe this summer and talked to a couple from the Netherlands. They told me that the Netherlands had a single payer government system for 2 or 3 decades and the cost growth, care and service were so bad that they went back to a private insurance based system with many insurance companies and options. They said there was a significant improvement in care and much lower cost!!!Every person is required to have insurance. I also asked them about welfare and taxes. They do not have welfare. Everyone has to work. When they get unemployed, they get to choose how long they ant payments and the total available to them is spread over that timefram. When they run out, its up to family and friends to help. Everyone pays income tax, the lowest is 5%. Now isn't that progressive and novel that everyone has to work and pay taxes. We should fully embrace this successful approach to government.

Are you aware that the current Democratic Health Reform legislation would favor aliens from other solar systems preferential treatment to hospitialization BEFORE those Americans with ties to GOP electorial events?
Does this concern you?
Do it concern any illegal aliens who already know?
Is Mexico within our solar sytem, if so why?

WOW I can't believe how skewed these questions and statements are. Talk about suggestive selling. Also in Mr. Steele's letter, the government is running car companies? If you believe that, it's a testament to the complacency and growing lack of education in this country.
