Vet to Congressman: Pelosi Should Find the Swastika on ‘the Sleeve of Her Own Arm’

By

Via HotAir, which pitches it as a “marine go[ing] nuclear on Democrat over Obamacare,” here’s a video making the rounds on the right: David Hedrick, a “member of the silent majority,” accusing the Democrats of being Nazis at a town hall held by Rep. Brian Baird (D-Wash.).

I’ll remind you, a little history lesson. The Nazis were the National Socialist Party. They were leftists. They took over the finance, they took over the car industry, they took over health care in that country. If Nancy Pelosi wants to find a swastika, maybe the first place she should look is the sleeve of her own arm.

While conservative bloggers like John McCormack have been claiming that Lyndon LaRouche cultists are the only people making Nazi references at town halls, here’s a proud conservative making that argument, uploading it to YouTube, and getting 250,000 views so far. Ironically, the Pelosi comment that made Hedrick so angry was her suggestion that… town hall protesters were comparing the Democrats to Nazis. (It’s also worth noting how important the government’s temporary takeover of General Motors has been in conservative mythos.) Video after the jump.

Yes, the nazi comparison is extremely helpful. But it's losing its zing. I think we should go with “Lord's Resistance Army” in order to reinvigorate these Townhall Meetings.

Thing is, nobody is talking about doing even half of what the Veteran's Administration does. That is a truly nationalized system where the doctors are government employees. We're talking about adding an option to the kind of insurance people can buy.

“was her suggestion that… town hall protesters were comparing the Democrats to Nazis.”

Nice try. Pelosi was insinuating the protesters WERE Nazis. She just wanted to get out there first with the word Nazi to muddy the water. The true comparison with the Nazis has always been on the left.

workadayjoe

Yeah, the last thing anyone wants is for the waters to be muddied in this healthcare debate. Otherwise, how can the American people effectively communicate their concerns that Obama is: 1) a communist, 2) not born in the United States, 3) a fascist, 4) creating death panels to kill old and decrepit people, 5) a proponent of eugenics, 6) a racist, 7) amassing lists of people to target for criticizing health care, 8) not a Republican, 9) not from the South. Without these as a starting point, the healtcare debate can go nowhere.

The ADL says you are full of it:
“Regardless of the political differences and the substantive differences in the debate over health care, the use of Nazi symbolism is outrageous, offensive and inappropriate,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director and a Holocaust survivor. “Americans should be able to disagree on the issues without coloring it with Nazi imagery and comparisons to Hitler. This is not where the debate should be at all.”

Just when I thought it couldn't be more embarrasing to be an american, the media goes out of it's way to give air time to ass clowns like this. I suppose it makes for more exciting copy than meaningful debate. I watch things like this with the same guilty shame as I used to feel watching the gong show. It may be entertaining but I'd sure hate it if someone walked in the room and caught me watching it.

As Dana Gould put in on “Real Time with Bill Maher”, “the only person who should be compared with Hitler is Hitler…and maybe Charlie Chaplin”. He also correctly pointed out that the Nazis are best remembered for their concentration camps, and NOTHING else.

Man, the level of BS rhetoric in these townhall meetings is enough for me to give up on the democratic process…

You guys are all really smart, so smart no on else should even be allowed to have a say except for others as smart as you. Like Europeans. They are smart too. There are no dumb people in Europe.

America is so dumb and crappy and fat. We really are worthless. I don't even know how we became so successful in such a short period of time historically. How can that happen to such stupid people, especially when they didn't have universal health care and social security and programs for the homeless. I don't think America really is successful, I think it is lies that the media tells us that makes us think we are. I think the rest of the world is much better off than we are because we are stupid, especially our marines. They are really stupid. Look at this stupid marine.

reign99 – moron extraordinaire. I agree that the US has become lazy and fat, but don't think for a second that there are no lazy and fat people elsewhere. Europe has their share, as does China. Mainland Europeans have “work councils,” which are essentially unions that lobby for ever shorter hours and ever more salary…and the Europeans wonder why they're losing even more jobs to India and China than the US is.

Don't get me wrong, I love to visit Europe. The French people in particular were wonderful to my wife and I when we visited in 2004. But, you shouldn't act like everything is perfect over there. They may learn more languages in school than Americans, but they would do well to stop making fun of Americans for working long hours, because their highfalutin education won't so a damn thing if they're not competitive.

You have to work more with less resources in order to compete with Indian and Chinese workers…not leave the office for 3-hour lunches daily and take every Friday off.

I've watched with interest as the right-wing of this country has distorted the history of the Nazis. They were not socialists they were fascists. They sent socialists to the gas chambers along with the Jews. National Socialist is a brand name like Republican. It doesn't describe their beliefs or their actions. Hitler did not take over business he helped business take over the country. His followers were racists, bullies and thugs. There are parallels to Germany in the 1930's in this country today. I'll give you a hint, it's not the Democrats.

Nice try. Laughable. So let's talk about racism then. In which party will you currently find a Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan? (Robert Byrd) Which party has a senator who uses the term white nigger? (Robert Byrd again!) Which party blocked the door to blacks at the University of Alabama? (George Wallace) Which party spied on MLK Jr.? (JFK) Which party rounded up Japanese Americans and put them in interment camps? (FDR) Which party sent the hoses and dogs out on civil rights protesters in Birmingham? (Bull Connor) And on and on…

So when Republicans try to explain that liberalism actually hurts people by rewarding and thus perpetuating a various failures to thrive they are the Facists and racists and Nazis every other epithet. Laughable.

Also, Nazi's were broke which is why they became Nazi's. Nancy Pelosi is very rich and powerful, she has no reason to become a Nazi. The word Nazi is weird. Nazi.

Look, I'm trying to make a serious point about how close the Democratic party of today is to the Nazis. If you can't see it, you're letting the highly liberal msm lead you astray. The only thing different is the name of the party. And the fact that the president is black. And the diverse coalition that supports them. And they aren't suggesting that the United States conquer all of North America. And they aren't trying to blame our problems on a disliked minority. And they came to power without using scare tactics. And they haven't suggested that we should segregate ourselves from people we don't like. Besides that, they are really the same entity.

You are right. It's not possible for racists and minorities to be in the same party. I mean no where in the world have black leaders have ever taken advantage of black people. And it's not racism to have such low expectations of people so as to create policies that perpetually keep them dependent. It's just not possible for minorities to continually elect people who create policies whose unintended consequences keep those same minorities on the bottom rung of society. No way man. Democrats aren't racist.

Public transportation? What wrong with buying a bicycle? I ride one. I also hear the chinese use them quite well.

I’m starving kids but their parents aren’t?

Job losers should seek the best employment they can and live within their means.

Is it that people can’t provide or won’t because of so many soft options?

I don’t blame people for all the stuff that happens. But shouldn’t the rule be not to force everyone else to pay for their circumstance?

I have empathy and would direct them to the nearest private charity for guidance and relief. That option is foreign to liberals because it reduces their power and feel goodism. Meanwhile the public dole is filled to capacity with people in “these situations and don’t have it as good as I have it.”

Your are pathetic. I don’t have it so well. I just don’t force everyone else to pay me when things are tough. I love how liberal compassion is “Here buddy. I know you can’t do any better than this meager existence. I have low expectations of you. So here’s a check. We got it from that greedy S.O.B. over there.”

Instead, try this: “Sorry, there is no more public anything. I know you can do better than that existence though. You just need the proper motivation. I know with a little more effort you can be a proud independent spirit who has higher expectations of himself and his neighbors. And if you see a neighbor in need I know you will help them because you are a compassionate person.”

Of course your response will be:
“But I can’t! Waaaaah.” My response to that will be: “Yes you can! Try harder.”

But of course this makes too much sense and it’s offensive because I’m hispanic and a sellout. Right. Gotcha.

Not to mention! Liberals reward failure by removing all the penalties for poor choices. Lead a crappy life? No problem. You can keep repeating your mistakes because liberal don’t expect much more from you. Nice.

Wow, sounds to me like you blame people for the bad situations that have happened to them, whether or not they have control over these situations.

You don't like public transportation, despite the fact that it cuts down on traffic and pollution?

You want poor kids to starve?

Do you want those who cannot provide for themselves to simply starve to death and live – literally – on the streets? Even children?

And those that lose their jobs, they should just suck it up and deal with the fact that they no longer have any income?

Shit, you are scary, and completely lacking in empathy for those who may not have it as good as you have it (I have no idea about your personal situation).

Man, you are both pathetic and naive.

I don’t know too many people who wouldn’t want to live so close to work that they could ride a bike there. That is not reality. And for a lot of people, IF that was the only option, it would be a minimum-wage paying job.

I work with two guys who are legally blind. Neither of them could get to work if they didn’t have public transportation. And they could not live closer to work because they cannot afford to live in the city.

There is not a sane parent out there who wants their kid to starve, but life isn’t that simple, and suggesting otherwise shows naivety.

You are suggesting that, no matter how well one’s job pays, they should never live a lifestyle beyond what minimum wage can pay, IN CASE they lose their real job, and the only job they can find is a minimum wage paying job.

Many Americans live one medical incident away from declaring bankruptcy, and all you say is “suck it up!”.

You completely ignore cultural and societal influence. Meaning you know nothing about psychology and sociology.

And you repeatedly make the mistakes of assuming what other people think and assuming that all Liberals think alike. And you keep assuming I’m a Liberal. I have plenty of intelligent, educated Conservative and Libertarian friends. Not a one of them lumps all members of any particular group together and assumes that they all think alike. You do that all the time!

I’m pathetic because I don’t know your situation, and state as much?!? Please!

You would direct them to the nearest private charity? Hello McBride! EVERY charity these days is overwhelmed. And you also seem to assume that Liberals don’t contribute to charities (as you already assumed that I’m a Liberal).

Have you ever lived on the edge? Apparently not. You state that “Liberals reward failure by removing all the penalties for poor choices”. You’d have to point this out to me, because my understanding is that all the social safety nets provide subsistence living, and not much else. You think I could survived on how much unemployment pays? Guess again!

You were doing so well before, and then you went a step too far and showed what a pathetic, ignorant, uncaring being you truly are.

You are a pathetic hand wringer and see nothing more than despair across the land that only you can resolve. If not for you everyone would wither away and die. You expect people to be on the edge so you keep them there. Really compassionate of you.

Charities would have more resources if taxes were lowered. But that concept is lost to you. Pathetic.

Living within your means is a good thing.

I am uncaring because I want people to be independent and live better than the public subsistence. Right.

I say they can. You say they can’t. If I were on public subsistence I would rather hear my hope than your negativity.

I really can’t believe you don’t see it. You are paying people to lead a bad life. You are subsidizing failure. See? No you don’t.

She says she can’t get a job because they will take the checks away. You keep her enslaved to the fear of losing those checks. Enslaved. You slave master. You Nazi.

Oooh! Zing! That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

She could call it the flying swastika. Or maybe the NancyKrieg.

Who the hell are you talking about when you say that “you keep her enslaved”? I don’t have any influence on her life or decisions.

Man, you are one crazy mofo. You know nothing about me, yet you state such insane things as “You are a pathetic hand wringer and see nothing more than despair across the land that only you can resolve. If not for you everyone would wither away and die. You expect people to be on the edge so you keep them there.”

Beyond being too young, ignorant, naive, and uneducated to really know what you are talking about – and THAT is obvious by your statements – you project WAY too much.

I pay my taxes, and I vote in elections. Otherwise, I don’t make decisions for anyone else but my own self and family.

I am fully in favor of a social safety net. The “most powerful nation in the world” SHOULD provide a social safety net.

You are pathetic in not being able to see that there are plenty of others out there who need help to get on their feet or stay on their feet. In the best of all possible worlds, no-one would live beyond their means, everyone would be able to ride their bicycle to work, no-one would starve or want for medical attention. Guess what – that world does not exist. So, while you keep on ranting and raving about the problems with society, I will keep on living the reality that IS our nation.

My suggestion to you – get an education, and/or go live in the wilderness.

She is a ward of the state and you vote for the very people who keep here there. Stuck in the apartment. Waiting. Hoping. For change. Change and hope.

If I were a politician I would lift her from this public subsistence and welcome her to the world of independent life. Not you Hitler.

Your safety net is really a hammock. And you like people in it Hitler. You don’t care that my neighbor has been in the hammock for over 5 years. She could be doing something productive if not for those stupid checks you send. What compassionate words do you have for my neighbor you ranting uneducated young pathetic moron?

Tell you what, get an education, gain some years of real world experience, and then talk.

You are one pathetic naive ignorant moron.

I have a college degree, am certainly older than you, have travelled the world and have experienced more joy and suffering than you ever will.

I gave you real examples of bad democrats and a real example of someone suffering in your safety hammock. Your response: anger and epithets. I guess that hope and change isn’t really working out for you. Sad.

Funny how you want me to get out, get an education, and see the world but not my neighbor. Typical Nazi.

Not to mention that you make excuses for everyone to not try harder. You were probably one of those fat little kids who never did anything that required effort because it made you sweaty. “I can’t, waaah!”

You shouldn't insult people, leave that to Nazi's.

We're starting to run out of room here on replies, I wonder if we can get it to a single character per line situation. I think only Japanese people would be able to read my posts then though.

Sorry, nice try. So tell me, what countries have you visited. And were you there on business, on vacation, etc? And what is your degree in? Do you work in that profession?

Very good try. I hit the mark. You are employing one of the three tactics used by liberals. ridicule, vitriol and dismissal. You want to dismiss me based on my pedigree. Try this: A murderer says murder is wrong. What now? HAHAHAHAHA

Very good! We the people of the USA need to stand up to the Democrats left wingers as they are truly acting and showing that they are Nazi's in everyway they are presenting themselves and what they are choosing to do with our country.
