PITTSBURGH – Former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean is currently conducting a health care town hall meeting here at Netroots Nation in Pittsburgh, where he predicted that health care legislation will pass through reconciliation in the Senate, without a single Republican vote. And he just took a minute to address the other kind of health care town halls, the ones that have dominated the news cycle this past week.
Responding to a throwaway question from Progressive Strategies co-founder Mike Lux (“I’m Bobby Birther … are you going to serve on these death panels?”), Dean said he’d “actually respond to the question seriously” and told the audience of progressive bloggers and activists, “The truth is, those meetings aren’t about health care.”
He continued: “Look carefully at the people who are shouting their congresspeople down. They don’t look anything like the generation that elected Barack Obama.”
But Dean said those meetings are a sign that the right-wingers recognize the strong prospects for health care reform. “They’re desperate,” he said. “They’re just making things up.”

Someone please explain why people who were elected to REPRESENT the citizens of this country think it is their right to completely ignore the opinions and desires of the folks who elected them. Well over 50% of Americans are,at the very least, still questioning the advisability of this bill, and many outright oppose it. This should be a clue to the Pres and his faithful supporters that the right thing to do is to back off and send it back for a great deal of review and refinement, so that it might reflect SOME of what the voters really want. The problem with the health care system wasn't created over night and certainly can't be fixed at top speed and with such limited study and discussion. In other words, what's the damn hurry?

Howared Dean belongs in prison for allowing an illegal-alien on the presidential ballot. Clearly the usurper was an Indonesian & still is. And he never changed his name legally after graduating from high school & even started college as barry Soetoro. I look forward to this all blowing up in his face. Its just too bad so many liberals are in on it too.

Hi, Barry Soetoro here. Will you quit confusing me with our American-born president, whose high school yearbook Hawaii clearly said the name “Barry Obama?” Or is that a conspiracy too?
What do I know, since I'm an illegal extraterrestrial, but it seems to me that a public option for health care similar to Medicare is popular, even with Republicans. What should the insurance companies be afraid of? I thought private enterprise could always outperform an inefficient government. It appears that the true “death panels” are convened by insurance companies who deny expensive but life-saving care in order to increase their profits. Of course, there I go again, another libtard conspirator living in that strange realm called “reality.”
