Rep. Steve King: Democrats Are Demogogues, Like I Was Six Years Ago
Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) in National Review, today:
If I was going to put a label on the president’s statements, I’d have to get my thesaurus. He and the Democrats have already used up the terms demagogue and un-American.
King, on March 22, 2003, according to an Associated Press story on a pro-Iraq War, pro-soldiers rally:
Republican Congressman Steve King of Iowa said all Americans – even the ones opposing the war – need to stand behind the troops now that the war is underway, and that some protesters have been displaying “un-American values.”
Actually, going and looking for previous uses of the phrase “un-American” is almost a pointless exercise; there are plenty of ways of casting one’s political foes as working against America’s interests or outside of her traditions, and they were employed many times from 2001 to 2009. But King is unusually egregious here.

King is a wealth of stupidity, to wit,
In defense of his vote against “a House measure to erect a plaque in the Capitol Visitors Center, recognizing the history of slave labor in the construction of the Capitol”:
“Our Judeo-Christian heritage is an essential foundation stone of our great nation and should not be held hostage to yet another effort to place guilt on future Americans for the sins of some of their ancestors.”
On healthcare:
“Taxpaying families, already weighed down by bailouts and massive spending bills, cannot afford to pay for health insurance for millions of illegal aliens. Hard and smart working Iowans should not be forced [typo included] pay for illegal aliens to obtain health benefits under any health care reform plan. It is wrong to reward law breakers. The American people are speaking loud and clear and saying, ‘No health care for illegal aliens.’”
Except that it doesn't…
And, just general craziness:
“(Obama will) certainly be viewed as a savior for them [al Qaeda],” Rep. Steve King told The Associated Press. “That's why you will see them supporting him, encouraging him.”
“I reject [McCain's] disavowal and I reject the Democrat web pages that call me the names that they have,” King said. “I'd ask them to point to the quote that I have said that offends them. And if I am wrong, Geraldo, and we elect Obama to the presidency and he declares defeat, if they don't dance in the streets, I will come and apologize to you and everybody in America. But I'm saying, I'm right.”
“Well I by now have a feel for the rhythm of this place called Washington, D.C., and my wife lives here with me, and I can tell you, Mr. Speaker, she's at far greater risk being a civilian in Washington, D.C. than an average civilian in Iraq.”
“If she (Barbara Lee) studied her history, she’d recognize Joe McCarthy was a great American hero…”
Calling him a douchebag is an insult to douchebags.

Hey, Strangely Enough, it takes one to know one.
It's STRANGE that you have instant access to all those Steve King quotes. Are you a kingwatch contributor? Webmaster? Enlightening stuff there…honestly, I don't know how you keep track of all your lies. If you're going to spend so much time at your computer, at least get it right.
A statement from Congressman King:
“In the Capitol Visitor’s Center, we agreed to change the name of the Great Hall – which honored the immigrants that came legally to America – to Emancipation Hall to honor the 645,000 slaves and their descendants who were brought to the United States more than two centuries ago.”
“Last night I opposed yet another bill to erect another monument to slavery because it was used as a bargaining chip to allow for the actual depiction of ‘In God We Trust’ in the CVC. The Architect of the Capitol and liberal activists opposed every reference to America’s Christian heritage, even to the extent of scrubbing ‘In God We Trust’ from the depiction of the actual Speaker’s chair in the U.S. House of Representatives.”
“This is just the latest example of a several year effort by liberals in Congress to scrub references to America’s Christian heritage from our nation’s Capitol. Liberals want to amend our country’s history to eradicate the role of Christianity in America and chisel references to God or faith from our historical buildings.”
“Our Judeo-Christian heritage is an essential foundation stone of our great nation and should not be held hostage to yet another effort to place guilt on future Americans for the sins of some of their ancestors. Christian abolitionists gave their lives by the hundreds of thousands to end slavery. Great American leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. worshipped God just as our Founding Fathers did. We must never forget this important aspect of our heritage or use it as a political bargaining chip.”
See how things begin to make sense when they're not taken completely out of context? Try it sometime. The truth will set you free.

Dear Peggy2
Are you Mrs 24Ahead…or maybe his sister…or maybe Mr 24Ahead in drag?!?!? Cause you certainly have his mode of commentary down to a T.
By the way, I don't even live in the US and just based on reading news articles about Rep King it is clear he is bat-shit-crazy.
Sincerely..etc etc
