		<description>Seriously, did you not pay attention to the Bush administrations stripping the military of every single dollar they could while funneling money to Haliburtin and paying the mercs in Blackwater much more than the regular soldier to take fewer risks?  Check it out, the Republicans have ALWAYS voted to send folks into war and then cut funding whenever they can for veteran&#039;s family and health care.  All the GI  and VA benefits were Democratically based. 		<description>The left reads books and articles based on fact and history AND opinion, the right reads books and articles based on made up facts  and opinion only  (was anybody paying attention to the health care attack referring to Hawking?) .  If you make up a good lie (Obama wasn&#039;t born in the US,  there are death panels in the health care bill, or how about Cheney and his company Haliburton did not profiteer against their country in war time) and stick with it, the faithful will follow.  Just like the Bush administration threw out any scientific or political realities in order to do whatever they wanted, the Republican faithful just throw out any reality that doesn&#039;t fit.</description>

		<description>Political inclinations in the US, as with intelligence, are distributed in a way that can be depicted graphically as a bell curve. Most people are not extremists; most understand the need for a strong military. Obama did not achieve an overwhelming victory, particularly in view of his Republican opponents. I expected the win to be far more decisive. Huffington readers are extremists, often working as much against the middle as against the far right. Ditto for the far right, respectively, attacking from the AM airwaves. Now, Obama runs for the hills to find the support of moderate Republicans; his proposals, to gain ground, will increasingly sound centrist. Extremists need each other to produce what the framers of the US Constitution knew we&#039;d need to survive: legislation mainstream Americans could live with, as long as it served some purpose. The signers of the Constitution didn&#039;t intend for the far ends of the spectrum to get along happily with one another, but they did hope the political wars would be fought with words and not weapons. Encourage debate, use your voices intelligently. The far left will fight the far right, inevitably. It is when the middle decides you serve no good purpose that you die politically.</description>
