Aw, Paddy, you care. Yeah, the wife is on me all the time. I haven't had anything like a "normal" sleep/wake cycle for years. Got in the habit of grabbing sleep whenever possible as a resident, and decades of working the Emergency Department tends to turn the day/night thing upside-down. Almost certainly not good for me, but then, so is reading your shit, so what the hell?

Yeah, I know that. But like Utah and Nevada and Montana and much else of flyover country, "what is not seen" (in the Bastiat sense) is the degree to which federal expropriations and regulations impair the locals' abilities to create economic value from the resources within their state boundaries but forbidden to them by federal law.

Consider Bubba's assault upon the people of Utah in ramming down upon them the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument in 1996. an action very pleasing to his Watermelon constituency on the coasts but raising stark hatred among the people of the Beehive State.

Safe enough for a National Socialist politician, as his faction of the Boot-On-Your-Neck Party will never have anything out of Utah but rage and resistance anyway.

Alaskans are similarly aware of the unseen costs they suffer in what is not to their mind fair exchange for the "federal money" they're thrown.
