Will the Hawaii Resolution Calm the Birthers?

By

Greg Sargent asks whether the unanimously passed Hawaii statehood anniversary resolution in the House will “reveal how absurd it is for Lou Dobbs to continue to turn CNN’s airwaves over to birthers.” We don’t know how it will affect the birthers themselves, but the reaction from FreeRepublic, a conservative activist site, isn’t promising.

Instead of a resolution maybe they could just show the original BC? Would that not be much simpler?

A resolution could say he came from Mars (or Venus?). Wouldn’t make it so.

WHAT is going on here! This is like Senate Resolution 511. It smacks of desperation.

THIS CONFIRMS MY BELIEF THAT THE LEFT WANTS TO KEEP THIS ISSUE ALIVE TO DISTRACT FROM THE OBAMACARE OBAMA-NATION.

So instead of writing a resolution demanding Obama to present proof of his Constitutional elibility, they write one declaring their OPINION on the matter. Fishy, very fishy.

now a member of the house is on record as objecting and could cause this to be heard by committee and could possibly actually force them (Ospamma) to produce a legal document proving it. To keep the resolution from being reversed as unconstitutional Or possibly causing the Supreme to hear the case

This resolution is like sticking a knife in the back of Americans, then twisting it.

And finally:

Actually, a piece of legislation like this would be great fodder for continuing the court cases seeking rememdy for the birth cert issue.

It would make it easier for a court to order Hawaii to release the birth cert….since now any birther can claim they need the birth cert. to prove that the govt was wrong in their resolution

Like this will ever end.

Dave, you not only venture into the Birtherverse, but also freeperville??!!?! My Gawd man, how did you keep your sanity?? I've never heard of anyone going into those two Whackovilles who didn't come out talking to themselves and believing that the CIA implanted devices in their heads through their ears while they were sleeping and their too busy trying to figure out how to remove the devices to focus on anything else. That, or they forget to put eye holes in their white sheets and can't do anything else.

The fact that you continue to write coherently after wandering into the worlds of some of the nuttiest nuts there are and came out, seemingly, unscathed makes you my new hero.

If a piece of paper says Hawaii, but 2 witnesses say they saw him born in Kenya – you would trust the piece of paper?

It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.

– Mark Twain, “Pudd'nhead Wilson's New Calendar” (1897)

And a resolution passed in the junior chamber of that body is supposed to impress a constitutionalist, Mr. Weigel, precisely…how?

I love the “birthers”. I have always been a fan of nutts who had their feelings hurt politically and went to find the craziest thing to somehow win an argument. So now the conspiracy is so far reaching that it has people like Bachman in Congress saying he's a citizen! Huge liberals like Michael Steele admit Obama is a citizen. The “birthers” however keep on trucking with their continually disproved idiocy. I LOVE IT! Please keep it up! Maybe even move on to a new one that'll make you seem even more dumb! GOP has NO chance in 2012 with people like this defining the party.

Are you referring to the 2 ministers who won't give their real names and who claim to have been with Sarah Obama when she was interviewed about Obama's birth? The 2 ministers who don't speak the same language as Sarah Obama?

You know that Berg cut the tape of the Sarah Obama interview. Berg cut the audio portion of the tape where she states that Obama SR. was born in Kenya but Obama Jr. was born in Hawaii…in the complete tape she states several times that Obama Jr. was born in Hawaii.

Before making any judgements about Obama being a usurper people should read Pat Boone's editorial about truth and see Farah's movie “A Question of Eligibility” with an open mind.

From David Hahn, “Publisher, StatePaper.com ” August 5, 2009.

Publisher: Obama Should Produce Original Birth Certificate

At StatePaper.com, we know by making this statement we will be instantly tagged as “racist,” “birther,” or other pejorative terms by those who defend the President of the United States. We often defend the President and the job he is doing and are regularly lambasted for being “too liberal” or an “Obama lover” by some of our most prolific critics.

But, here is the issue:

The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of our country. Article II of the Constitution requires the President to be a natural born citizen. Without reciting them here, there appears to be some serious questions raised about whether President Obama was born in the United States or Kenya. We have not checked sources, but there are reports that some witnessed his birth in Kenya.

The President's campaign staff and then his administration have released and placed on the internet a “Certificate of Live Birth.” We do not dispute the validity or correctness of that document as others have tried to do, suggesting the use of computers to alter seals and names. By releasing this document the President agrees that the claims about his status as a natural born citizen is an open, important, public issue.

But, this “Certificate of Live Birth” is simply not the best evidence that the President and his administration could offer to lay to rest any doubt about his status as a natural born citizen.

Barack Obama is a lawyer and a graduate of Harvard Law School. All law students study the body of law we call “Evidence.” One of the core tenets of American law is the “best evidence rule” which requires the production of original, or certified copies, of original document to prove a fact. Abstracts and summaries are not original documents.

The President has offered an abstract (Certificate) of his birth, but not an original birth certificate which would be the best evidence of his birth. We need the best evidence so that it can do what the best evidence is meant to do; dispel the doubts about a fact. We need to see the Birth Certificate. That's the one that is often handwritten and signed by the doctor.

Lawyers and legal thinkers will, obviously, argue the finer points of the “Best Evidence Rule” and its applicability to this matter. But, that misses the point. The notion of “Best Evidence” is solidly-grounded in law. This is an important public matter and it seems now that the President has started down the path of offering some evidence (Certificate of Live Birth), he should offer the “best evidence” (Original Birth Certificate) which is the source document for his birth. The document behind the document which has been released. This is what is needed now in the court of public knowledge.

The fact in question here is the constitutional qualification of the President of the United States to hold office. With a simple nod, the President could offer the American people the best evidence, the source document(s), as he learned about at Harvard, and dispel those who question his birth as a natural born citizen. His failure to provide this best evidence, when it could be so easily done, raises only more questions, which fuels an ugly public debate.

And now we've got a “Liberal” Nebraska newspaper advising Barry to cough up his birth certificate. Waiting for the same kind of editorial to appear in The Honolulu Star-Bulletin, right?

If poor, harassed, straining little Barry can produce a birth certificate that wasn't filled out in the Maternity Ward of Coast Provincial General Hospital in lovely, exotic, downtown Mombasa.

Anybody else ready to hear our TelePrompTer-in-Chief taking the Fifth? I am!

The Great Usurper was a natural-born citizen-subject of Great Britain. Of course that was before he was adopted as Barry Soetoro in Indonesia where all his childhood memories exist before age ten. that was when he went to visit the Dunhams in Hawaii on an Indonesian passport & then stayed thru high school.
