Awww, you mean a grown-up finally paid attention to what Lou had been telling his more easily-impressionable viewers? You mean the entire CNN network isn't willing to follow Lou Dobbs down the sewer as he tries to figure out why he pissed his career down it?

Thank God cooler heads are prevailing here! I guess that's why they pay the “Suits” the big bucks. But I learned a lot from this incident. Lou Dobbs has been losing my interest for over a year now, although I used to respect him and his show immensely. Now I don't even wait until the Blitzer show is over before switching the channel. I'll still watch CNN because I like all the other hosts and commentary teams, but Dobbs won't get a glance from me.

It is about time CNN paid attention to what is going on with Lou Dobbs. I have long since changed channels and no longer watch CNN, (not even Anderson Cooper) because of the “Lou Dobbs” mentality taking over CNN.

Kudos to CNN. Unfortunately, I highly doubt this, or any other media coverage, will put the issue to rest for those who, in their delusional state, cling to it so fiercely.

If one looks at what is truly fueling this conspiracy theory– as one group of concerned citizens at the politijab DOT com forum have been doing for months now–one quickly finds that some of the most dangerous and vile anti-government and racist hate groups are driving the issue and using it to recruit new members.

Many of the birthers are clinging to a vision of the USA that is long past, and maybe never existed. They fear change and diversity, and they cannot accept what is happening before their own eyes. These people are being recruited, slowly, into much more dangerous existing hate groups. They are being encouraged daily to “take up arms” and “join militias” and “take their country back at all costs” and “get that Kenyan usurper and his gorilla wife out of office”. Check any birther chat or blog and these types of comments are rampant. Most of the birthers are likely harmless “armchair warriors”, but such sentiments are dangerous and the racism present in them is absolutely sickening.

Please look further into the roots of this idiocy. That is where the real story exists. No one wants to see another tragedy like the recent events involving Von Brunn, who espoused birther theories on the internet before picking up his gun and shooting an innocent man.

Now, that Los Angeles Times article you've cited contains a lot of other factual errors, but the “red flag” goes up the minute you read a j-school clown call something like the AR-15 an “assault rifle” because from that point on, you know that either the writer doesn't know what he's talking about (and hasn't bothered to do even minimal fact-checking) or he's lying.

In either case, forget about relying on anything he's written. Either he's wrong or he's trying deliberately to screw you.
