If we assume the birthers are correct, then government officials in any or perhaps all of the following places are in on the conspiracy to hide President Obama's true birthplace:

Hawai'i, Kenya, California, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.

These co-conspirators are a heterogeneous mix of people from different political parties and socioeconomic strata.

You have the Republican Governor of Hawai'i, Linda Lingle. You've got Kenyan goat-herders sitting around Sarah Obama and “Bishop” Ron McRae. And everyone in between.

There is an obvious flaw in the logic supporting the birthers' “corrupt officials” argument.

It goes back to the heterogeneity of the population of co-conspirators.

Take Linda Lingle, for example. She is the Governor. She has a staff. Some of them have access to her conversations, writings, and meetings. Some of them have to be in on it, as well. Those people, who signed up to work for a Republican Governor, probably don't have lust for Obama in their hearts.

One of them, by now, would have reached out to someone in the media, perhaps even by anonymously leaking it, with the information necessary to prove the conspiracy exists and Obama was really born on foreign soil.

You wouldn't even have to give away the full answer. Just a hint. Believe me, the right wing would follow the trail to the bitter end, like the dhole chasing Mowgli to the Bee-People.

But you could make MILLIONS for yourself and be a hero to racist white people all throughout the country, if you just slipped a copy of a document proving there's a conspiracy afoot into your briefcase as you're locking up the office one Thursday evening. No one would know it was you. And if they did? So what! You've got millions of dollars and hundreds of 2nd Amendment loving patriots willing to provide you free personal security around the clock.

Take the Kenyan goat herders. Sarah Obama didn't say she saw Obama being born. Or did she? There were other people in that village. Surely some are as old as she is. Is it not possible that one of those older people would also remember having been present at the birth of the world's most famous black man?

Can one of those people not be coaxed into sitting down in some courtroom and saying a few words? Failing that, are they impervious to offers of compensation to tell their story to Sean Hannity? Do they not have dire and urgent need of everything from clean water to Turkish bath towels to food that didn't grow in sand to a house that is somewhere besides this GOD AWFUL FUCKING VILLAGE?

Is Sean Hannity not willing to pay $1,000,000 for this information? I guarantee you that Rupert Murdoch is. In fact, I bet you he'd sell you Sean Hannity for that information.

You can follow this out with the officials who know about his college records, or his law school records, or his law firm records, or his elective office records. Are NONE of those people in foreclosure right now? Are they all Democrats?

So it doesn't make sense. Too many cooks spoil the broth. Too many co-conspirators in too many political parties in too many continents with too many individualized desires and vulnerabilities spoils the conspiracy theory.
