The Magna Carta is foreign law. Yet conservatives appeal to it all the time. Along with the Ten Commandments, another set of foreign laws.

American Law was established on the basis of British Common Law and there is nothing untoward about various countries who adopted that Common Law as the basis for their own national codes citing interpretations from other Common Law courts. The whole kerfluffle is just a product of American Conservatives letting the principle of Exceptionalism run amok. God forbid we appeal to a few centuries of judicial precedent that in fact shaped the form of the law the U.S. inherited.
