Two question – has the Weigel official editorial position since been modified, or is a future Presidential run really the only reason he can conceive for the family doctoring Obama's citizenship status back in 1961?

My second question is rhetorical – in the event of a nasty split from Barack Obama Sr., how might a young Ms. Dunham have fared battling a Kenyan family in a Kenyan court for custody of a black Kenyan baby? Would her chances of gaining custody improve if the fight were in a US court about a US baby?

I have no idea what happened in 1961, but my general view is that things are more likely to happen if there is a plausible reason for them to happen. Mr. Weigel's failure of imagination may be holding him back here.

I'm a little confused here. Did the judge give a reason for revoking the order? I'm assuming this is standard procedure in a case like this when the solider in question has already missed his deployment date, but I couldn't find anything that confirmed that.

Another failure of my imagination — I have trouble reconstructing the scenario under which the pregnant 18-year old Ann Dunham made an international flight to Kenya during the final stages of her pregnancy. Can you point to the proof that she left Hawaii at any point during her pregnancy? Thanks!

Amazing how 2 and 2 can add to Purple. Obama isn't my favorite person but this whole issue was settled when the State of Hawaii certified his birth in their state.

Hmm, why did the burden of proof shift to me? Can anyone prove she was in Hawaii?

As to being unable to imagine how she got to Kenya – I presume that is merely a rhetorical failure of imagination. Maybe she left for Kenya while six months pregnant to meet the hubby's family, planned to stay a month, and – SURPRISE! – delivered two months early. Was Barack a low birth weight baby? I don't know – his birth weight is not on the short form certificate that has been released. And to skip ahead, no I can't prove he was a low birth weight baby; can you prove he had a normal weight? That full birth certificate would have the answers.

And seriously – is it really that hard for you to come up with these hypotheticals?

Furthermore, what if she was abducted by aliens who took her to their ship, which was made up to look like Kenya? How come you didn't think of that hypothetical, Mr. Smartypants Weigel?

Btw Tom, you complete buffoon, the State of Hawaii only issues one type of birth certificate: the one released long ago. There is no other version anyone can obtain. For any reason (even the super important “Birthers must know the truth!” reason). SUPRISE!
