Jon Kyl: Cancel the Stimulus

In a little-noticed column, Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), the Senate minority whip, comes out for scrapping the stimulus money that has not yet been spent. All $677 billion of it.

It’s not a surprise that a recent Rasmussen poll found that 45 percent of Americans want to cancel the rest of the stimulus spending. I agree.

Most economists expect the impact of the stimulus to come over the rest of this year, but Republican pronouncements of its failure have been coming for months.

Kyl has a point. Isn't the point of a stimulus bill to immediately stimulate the economy? Seems pointless to spend all that money months, or even, years from now. And now Biden is talking about passing another "stimulus" bill?!?

Good grief, it's hardly started to go into effect. Obama barely had time to put down the pen that he used to sign the bill before Republicans were pronouncing its failure. Given the Republicans' economic record, I'm surprised they have the nerve to say anything.
