Why Do Liberals Hate Sarah Palin?

Ed Kilgore’s analysis of the reignited strategists-vs-Sarah Palin slow-news-week imbroglio is on the mark:

This base of support for Palin — maybe not that large, but very passionate, and very powerful in places like the Iowa Republican Caucuses — isn’t going to abandon her just because the Serious People in the GOP laugh her off in favor of blow-dried flip-flopping pols like Mitt Romney or blandly “electable” figures like Tim Pawlenty. To her supporters, mockery is like nectar.

National Review’s Jim Geraghty and Hugh Hewitt provided some proof of this today:

My first thought was that it tied heavily to her appearance; in liberals’ minds, conservatives are supposed to look like the couple from the painting American Gothic: Dour and joyless, aged, spartan and frail. Political leaders aren’t supposed to be young, really good looking women, full of energy, smiles and winks.

Hugh suggested it tied to the contrast between her lifestyle and her critics: “She is the embodiment of the anti-choice, the opposite of every choice that lefty elites have ever made — as to going back home instead of moving to the west coast, having children, having a child with Downs, staying married to one man the whole time, choosing rural or suburban over urban and living a generally conservative lifestyle, working with her hands… That everything she is is the antithesis of everything that liberal urban elites are, so it’s not just enough to say, ‘I disagree with you,’; she has to be repudiated and crushed.”

The argument that liberals despise Palin because she had a child with Down syndrome probably makes less sense outside of the talk radio sphere than anything else said about her.

Well, this is so full of false stereotypes it is hard to know where to begin. Staying married to one man? Massachusetts, ground zero for the “liberal elitism” these guys despise so much, has the lowest divorce rate in the nation. Connecticut, Vermont and New Hampshire are not far behind. The highest divorce rates, of course, are found in the South, home of “the conservative lifestyle”. Don't let facts get in the way of a good talking point, though.

Working with her hands? What the hell is he talking about?

We are conviced by Palin actions that she is essentially like W and Sanford. That is, slightly slow mentally and marginally qualified for elected office, and definitely not positions associated with the WH.

Liberals hate Sarah Palin because she is unqualified, both intellectually and educationally for the White House. During the campaigns, Palin constantly used hateful, ignorant rhetoric to embolden the bigots, racists, and hate-mongers in the GOP. She is frightening in her level of ignorance. The people who love her, vote for her, based on one issue…abortion.

The reason liberals hate Sarah Palin is because we are afraid of her. The reason we are afraid of her is because we know that the American people can be stupid and gullible. We saw Sarah Palin's male counter-part get elected not once, BUT TWICE!! Eight years of misery, the fleecing of the public, lies, wars, and other outrageous and illegal behavior. Why do people not see the link between the arrogant ignorance of Sarah Palin to George W. Bush? She is the female embodiment of George Bush and look what he and his second in command did to this country – they ran it into the ground in every conceivable way. At least George Bush has the decency to shut up and remain in the background. Someone should duct tape Cheney and his wanna-be daughter. I consider myself an agnostic (I simply do not know or claim to know) secularist (supports separate of church and state). But one thing I do pray for, is that the American public will not be taken in by a “wolf in sheep's clothing,” again.

How was your your life so miserable under Bush? Please name me examples of how those eight years he was in office effected your life personally, just curious. I know more people suffering more under Obama's first 1 year in office the they ever were under Bush. People are not happy at all with the direction of the country now. You may not have agreed with Bush's policies, heck I am right leaning and I didn't either and know he made some mistakes, but you sound as if we had the equivalent of a holocaust or something, a little extreme aren't we? Arrogant ignorance is also a great way to describe Obama as well, so lets not try to pin this on conservatives!

I do not see Sarah as a beautiful woman. She is average at best. I do not think there is great significance to the facts of where she lives, how she lives or with whom she lives. She is not unique in that she has been married to one man and had his children or that one of them has Down's Syndrome. She is average. She does not seem to be intelligent as one would hope…she gets a crowd worked up…lots of people can get a crowd worked up. I cannot see anything that she has to offer. I would question whether or not she would be a good candidate for the PTA let alone the USA. If she wants to be taken seriously, she needs to be smart, not smart mouthed. I don't think she would last 5 minutes on her own with other world leaders…

The truth is she is like one of us, not qualified to run the country. Or at least no more qualified then any other hockey/soccer mom with an education in the US. People say she did things for Alaska, but really WHO QUITS BEING THE GOV. She says she is a good mom, how are you a good mom when your house is falling apart because you are not there (I am a working mom, it is hard with three kids let alone more). She tots her downs child around whenever the photographers are out, did she do ONE thing in Alaska for special needs children? All I see is a self serving women who uses her family to make the American public think that she is one of us. Daily I look at the smart people around me who voted for her and McCain (McCain I get, he was actually qualified), and I just can not understand how anyone bought in to her big show. How did people not realize that once McCain chose her as his running mate he was toast in the election, he even got that. Anyhow, just thought I would throw it out there.

Wow. If you replace the word “Palin” for “Obama” in each persons criticism of Sarah Palin, it fits our current president and commander-in-cheat perfectly. If she's a moron, then he is in every way her equal. With time, he's perfected his idiocratic ideology. November 2010 can't arrive soon enough to hopefully slow down this hoppin' change… and stale mate this destructive administration until it too can be replaced in 2012. The problem, as I see, is that no candidates, on either side of the isle, are capable leaders, so we're left with a choice of the “lesser of two evils”. Which is how and why were are at this point in our history, of which Bush opened the door for this current administration to walk in and wreak havoc on our foundations… So I loathe them both, Democrat and Republican… it's time “We the People” step up and go for office instead of the “professional politicians”… and then maybe, just maybe, we can get back to our founding principals and those elements that make this a country of exceptionalism.

Well were do I start! 7 million people out of a job I guess…isn't that enough suffering?
He made us the laughing stock of the Earth among ALL countries, that hurt like hell. Im proud to be American, Bush made me ashamed. If you didn't notice the equivalent of a holocaust, then you must be one of the rich business owners that just LOVED the idiot because the ignorant poor Americans bought into the scare mongering that he shoveled on a regular basis and then voted to support his War to find Osama Bid Laden in…Iraq? This helped his business buddies get filthy rich. Including DICK cheney. Yeah, Obama is recking the country…RIGHT. Just for a second, imagine another republican had won the white house…not only would we STILL be getting DEEPER into a recession, but our deficit would be TWICE what it is today. I PROMISE YOU THAT. Don't be ignorant.
Oh, and palin is simply taking advantage of the ignorance on the far right just like bush did. She is just using the scare tactic of “big government” instead of “terrorists”. Sooner or later, she will cause thousands of people to be killed in violent attacks of hate. Very sad, very sad.

First off, comparing Bush in any serious way to the holocaust is just plane crazy! Whether you agree with going to Iraq can be debated, heck I am still not sold on it and I'm more conservative, but if in 10 years there is a peaceful Govt in place that is no longer living under the tyranny of Sadam, and is no longer a haven for terror cells, then I will say job well done! But for now, the war can be debated till the cows come home, you cannot claim anymore moral authority about the situation then I, and your views about what you THINK it was really all about and why we went, are completely your opinion, NOT FACT!

You make me laugh out loud, LOL, when saying that our deficit would be TWICE what it is today, NEWSFLASH: under your savor we have quadrupled the deficit in just ONE YEAR, are you kidding me right now!?? Ignorant?? Wow, you need to do some more research on that one is all I will say, where are you getting your facts??

Finally, Palin is just Palin, there is no underlying scare tactic, she is just saying what she believes whether or not you believe it or not! If anyone is going to really start shit, it's going to be the liberal left, have you freakin been to any protest put on by the left, ever?? I could post you video after video of the oh so well behaved lefties, give me a break! Look I am not a fan of Palin, but she has a right to speak her mind whether you agree or not, your ridiculous conspiracy theories of why she is speaking out are just plane silly and any thinking person would see that, your spewing typical far left hype that of course lack total and complete evidence to support your assertions, give it up!

“………………………… The argument that liberals despise Palin because she had a child with Down syndrome probably makes less sense outside of the talk radio sphere than anything else said about her………………………..”

I will never forget the night that Sarah Palin made a speech at the Republican Convention. I was living in Huntington Beach, CA , and I could hear some women talking loudly below my apartment. I looked out to see what the problem was, and there was an old lady making fun of Sarah Palin for having a Down Syndrome baby!!

America has far too many ignorant people. I have not been able to decide if men in general are afraid of Gov. Palin or if it is only far-left liberals kooks — see CNN and MSNBC. It is now so obvious how many people realize their mistake in voting for Obama, but are they brave enough to have a bumper sticker that says, “Sorry I voted for Oboma! Please forgive me.”

I'm hoping that Sarah Palin continues to help others become all that they can be. I don't think I could stand a year or two of Gov. Palin being put down by the liberal media and other similar ignorant, biased people.

Gov. Palin had far, far more executive experience than Obama yet many ignorant and biased people voted for him. I would hope “they” get their just due, but there might be many innocent people that would also be affected.

Sarah Palin may not be your choice or anyone’s choice for anything but is that reason enough to say nasty things about her. Evidently she scares the heck out of some liberals..they are so afraid of her decency, her mama-nism, her downhome folksey ways. I think the majority of the people sincerely like her as a person so why is MSNBC so very nasty to her. I don’t
think she will ever run for President of the USA but she is pretty, articulate, cares about her family and she would be ever-bit (or more) qualified to run for president than O’Bama was. I hope to see her in the senate some day.

I don’t think that people say nasty things about Sarah Palin just because she’s not their choice. I think she has been extremely nasty in her public statements about various people she disagrees with. I also do not agree that she is articulate. The reason she seems dangerous to me, is related to your last statement. That she would be considered as qualified as President Obama seems so very strange to me because Obama studied the law and the Constitution well enough to teach it. He has worked his way up in the heartland and has had practical experience on top of his understanding of law & our Constitution. Palin has had very limited experience and those who think she’s qualified seem to be the ones who think ignorance has some kind of folksy value in governing our nation. To me she appears a good-looking mouth-piece who can get away with saying things that either don’t make sense or are offensive and people applaude. She repeats basic slogans and catch-phrases that generally represent conservative ideals, but does not appear to have a real understanding of what it means, nor does she have any interest in working with anyone who disagress with her.

Since, if You educate yourself and thereby gain knowledge and expertise in a given field, you are an so-called “Elitist”, which according to Sarah Palin is bad for the country and bad for the people.

BTW. Did you know that your founding fathers did NOT want religion and politics mixed up. One of they biggest fears for the future of U.S.A. was that religion would move from the private sphere behind peoples four walls and into the White House. They explicitly made an effort to avoid a situation like that.

Funny fact, since Sarah Palin talks alot about religion and so-called “the true america and the founding fathers.

Both sides succeed only in making themselves look bad, because the only thing you’re doing is hurling insults.

I’m glad I can’t vote yet (though I will be able to in 2012, thank goodness, I get a right to an opinion) because I couldn’t stand to be a member of the Democrats or Republicans right now. At the least, liberals are rank hypocrites. Instead of the bleeding hearts they claim to be, liberals are stingy toward the poor and needy; they are generous only with other people’s money. Instead of treating all peoples by the content of their character, liberals are racially discriminatory; some are black and brown supremacists. Instead of the feminists they pretend to be, liberals are misogynists – hateful and vicious toward conservative women. Instead of their rhetoric of being for the common man, liberals are elitist snobs who constantly denigrate their political opponents by portraying conservatives as ignorant, dumb rednecks without a college education or the proper Ivy League credentials.

At the root of the Liberal Syndrome is a mental and moral disorder. Liberals are miserable, bitter, malcontent people with a perennial chip on their shoulder. They are arrogant and narcissistic, with a self-serving relativist morality. That is why they resent religions that have a moral code, especially Christianity that believes human beings are a fallen creation who are redeemed only through the self-sacrifice of a loving but moral God.

None of those items qualifies her to be president. Invite her for dinner and drinks, serve halibut, talk about Canadian healthcare but keep her out of the oval office.

“Dumbf*cks”…and your side loves to claim they’re the reasonable party.
Non-Libs are supposed to be the ones filled with rage and hate.

Even with King Barack the Obama, liberalism defined, in control and you’re
still miserable? You should be ecstatic with all that Hope and Change you
voted for. No, you’re miserable because King Barack the Obama has taken this
country as far left as possible and everyone can clearly see how destructive
those Utopian dreams of yours really are. But, I’m guessing you’re always
thinking, “Just give this Socialism a little more time and it will work.
Really it will. You’ll see. This will be the first time in history that it
will work. Just wait.”

King Barack the Obama came to make as many people as possible slaves to one
government program or another. That’s how he’ll be remembered.

You and your side are lost without a scapegoat. Without a liberal cause to
rally behind and without a Republican to blame your side has to face the
results of those Socialist policies you hold so dear. That’s one of the many
reasons you’re miserable.

And don’t presume I’m a Republican. Libertarian is the only way a vote isn’t
wasted. Both parties are bought and paid for. Keep buying into that false
Left-Right paradigm. That’s what the establishment wants.

I’m a liberal and I love Sarah Palin, and Glenn Beck. They’re the best thing ever to happen to the republican party in the USA. all you have to do is let them talk and the republicans destroy themselves.

I mean, palin thinks fruit fly research is pointless, doesn’t know Africa is a continent and cant name a founding father or the main cause of global warming. what the Vice president does or what the bush doctrine is, heck, George bush should come back into the scene! with the three of them giving the republicans publicity maybe the liberals could win.

Sarah is an enigma to liberals. It’s true, they hate her for all the usual reasons they hate their fellow Americans who profess conservative values, but she epitomises these things and has been tremendously successful…also she doesn’t show enough skin and there is no hint of sexual slander, drug, alcohol, or child abuse in her past (things that would make one of their own contenders far more appealing to them). Not to worry, they have people working overtime to dig up (or dream up) something to smear with before 2012.

When they got that treatment it was before medicare was introduced in Canada. And Sarah was way to young to be blamed even if we did have it. This is one of the most disingenuous slurs ever brought up against her.

I can tell you exactly why I do not like her. I did, at first. Then I found out how she ordered her state biologists to kill a wolf pack, including nursing mothers. She then had them kill fifteen, month-old wolf pups by having each one shot point blank in the head. This was in an unpopulated area of Alaska. Zoos contacted said they would have taken the pups if asked. They were not asked, although Palin’s camp said they were. I don’t like Palin because she IS ignorant. She did not bother finding out what the responsibilities of the Vice President were before she ran…she publicy gave an answer that showed how ignorant she is. She could not answer Couric on how many newspapers she reads…it was quite obvious, at least at that time, that she read NONE! I am not a Couric fan, but Katie did not badger her as Palin has claimed. I watched the interview. Palin was a fool all the way through it. She did not know why there is a North and South Korea. The list goes on and on and on. She quit being governor because she was being investigated. I have nothing against her about her family life, that is her business. I am not jealous of her looks. People say she has more experience than Obama. Yeah, right. She had extensive experience into running Wasilla into heavy debt by the time she stopped being mayor. I don’t like Palin because she does not answer questions…well, she answers, but she talks in circle and she puts such a spin on what she says, that she has way too many people thinking she actually answered. I was very upset at the way she was not called to task for not answering questions when she was debating Biden. She got off the subject and talked abou t stuff that was not pertinent to the questions she was asked and the interviewer let her get away with it. I would like a woman to be president, but Palin, who sloughed her way through five or six colleges to get a degree, that no one has seen by the way, is not that woman. She is itching to get us into a war. I don’t like her for that reason either.

i mean there is not one truth in your statement. is it lies? i dont think so i just think you are ignorant, didnt do research and are blinded by your ideaology. she is def. more experienced than obama. look it up. she had 175+ frivilous lawsuits brought about to take all her time away from being governor, so she resigned for the good of her state, that is admirable and rare. we only saw part of courics interview, she had been with her for 8 hours and katie is as liberal as they come and its obvious the woman reads, come on dont be stupid! wolves were overpopulated at that time and thinning the herd is necessary for the greater good of the species, contrlled hunts are common for many species.vice presidential duties? wow biden is in left field and says more dumb shit than i have ever heard. she kicked bidens butt in the debates he looked foolish. i dont think the interviewer would let her get away with anything. the woman cant get away with the slightest little mistake without the liberals hyperventilating and calling her stupid, dumb, retarded, an idiot etc. vicious vicious child killers that they are. t

You make it sound like religion is a bad thing that should be isolated. The reason why we have seperation of church of state was for the good of both. Giving the church political power in Europe corrupted it (as giving political power to any organization does). The then corrupted church used it’s power to force people to join. The inverse can happen too where the government can ban any religion it wants (like what the Japanese did to Christianity in 1630). These extreme scenarios are what the founding fathers didn’t want. As for using the morals you gain from religion that teaches love to influence your decisions in office, there is nothing wrong with that. Most of the founding fathers themselves were devote Christians.

Thank you, for your comment has showed me that the media biased against Palin is what is used as sources for when the foreign media reports about her. If she was really against education, why would she of gone to college and why would she be putting her kids through college? (And really think before you answer that.) Whenever someone being covered by the media seems to be either a REALY bad or a REALLY good person, you should question the reporting, ALWAYS.

Separation of Church and State is NOT meant to keep religion out of politics, it is to prevent the State from instituting a national church.

no, she would be a good pres candidate because she has a decent resume and experience. The only reason we libs are afriad is because she could take votes away from us and threatened/threatens Obama’s presidency. But instead of challenging her and conservatives with facts, we resulted to name calling, phony lawsuits, and harassing her family. That’s not right.

Coming from a person who affiliates with the Democrats, that include: Ted Kennedy, (killed a woman) Barney Frank (hired for service a male prostitute, then employed him FULL time privately and went on to run a brothel out of his D.C. apartment,) John Edwards, (sired a child with mistress as wife is dying of cancer) and the star of the Democrat Show, Mr. I’ll show you mine – Anthony Weiner.

Sorry, Palin is the brown acid for the DNC – mention her name and they start to hallucinate and foam at the mouth.
