According to a podcast recorded by the Birthers who are walking around Washington handing out “Citizen’s Grand Jury presentments,” they’re delivering a package that includes some of the indictments handed down by the dubiously-legal juries as a well as this letter from a retired Navy man (after the jump). Even the dumbest, most KoolAid-soaked BHO fan (probably) realizes that Weigel is engaging in a strawman. Not all those he refers to as “birthers” believe whatever is in the letter above.
Here's my real reporting on this issue. I've issued the challenge on that page to Weigel repeatedly, and he's repeatedly refused to do something as simple as picking up the phone. What sort of reporter would refuse to confirm their assumptions? The Weigel kind, of course.

Dude, your so called “real” reporting is full of holes. You cite a law that allows foreign born children to get a COLB, but fail to mention it was enacted in 1982- Which is over 20 years after PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA was born.
How about you do some more “real” reporting and come up with actual evidence that he was born in Kenya or Indonesia or somewhere other than what is on record… some actual, physical proof other than a lack of proof and your own confimatory bias.
Put up or Shut up.

California has a code similar to HRS 338-17.8:
“103500. A certification of birth or of birth data issued by an agency of the government of the United States to authenticate a birth of a child to a United States citizen outside of the United States may be recorded in the office of a county recorder in the last county of permanent residence of one or both parents of the child if the last permanent residence in the United States of one or both parents of the child was in California.
103505. A certification of birth outside of the United States, upon recordation by the county recorder, shall be indexed in the county recorder's birth index in the year of occurrence of the birth.”
HRS 338-17.8 does NOT say that the place of birth will be fraudulently changed to Hawaii. Most likely the statute is in the support of the Hawaii Homelands program so that the child's Hawaiian lineage is documented.

Why is Obama hiding his original birth certificate? He has created a big mess. Plus cost a lot of money. Granted there might be some embarrassing information on his original birth certificate. That Obama might want to keep hidden. But other than that – what is his problem?
