Get real, Janet. It is so embarassing to see the Obama administration always apologizing to right-wing groups. BTW, that report should have defined right-wing extremism as “those groups, movements, and aherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or gender groups). Our nation needs to come to grips with hate crimes against women. It needs to learn a new word, femicide.

Daniel read some more political history. There was no big push by conservative capitalists to enter WWII on the British side, in fact the wealthy generally regarded this as FDRs war and resisted things like Lend-Lease. While the Republican Party was not united on this its more prominent wing was generally isolationist, where that is they were not objectively pro-Fascist (e.g. Pat Buchanan's father was an open supporter of Franco, and people really DID say of Mussolini "At least he made the trains run on time"). Plus you might want to do some side reading on the German-American Bund. And for that matter anti-semitism (for example Henry Ford sponsored the U.S. printing of the Protocols http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Protocols_of_t...)

In fact the big push to get America into the war came from anti-fascist liberals and pro-Soviet leftists. To be fair the isolationists and pro-German people were not all Republicans, people like Joe Kennedy did not have entirely clean hands anymore than did Ford or S.P. Bush, by and large the capitalist class in the U.S. like their counterparts in Germany were initially more supportive than not of Hitler's efforts, they thought he was a useful and controllable tool to deploy against communists. (They got the anti-communist part partially right but totally blew the controllable piece.)

In any event the notion that the U.S. entry into the war was prompted by the efforts of the right or of conservatives is just rank revisionism.
http://history.sandiego.edu/GEN/WW2Timeline/07/...
http://history.sandiego.edu/GEN/WW2Timeline/Pre...

(P.S. Jonah Goldberg is about as good a political historian as he is a political pundit, which is to say not got at all, fascism was never at any time identified with liberalism, and people should not get fooled by labels like 'national socialism' (NAZI/NSDAP)which arose in strict confrontation with the real European socialists then known as the Social Democratic Party (SDP)'.
http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/GERsdp.htm)

The real issue is that all this racism and anti-Semitism is what socialist and communist nations have done. "Right wing" = Conservative = capitalist = opposite of the German National Socialist racists, such as the United States fighting them in WWII.
