House Debating Mike Pence’s Iran Resolution
Friday, June 19, 2009 at 10:27 am
Right now, Rep. Howard Berman (D-Calif.) is speaking in favor of H.Res. 549, the resolution introduced by Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and reworked by the Democratic chairman of the foreign relations committee to endorse the resistance in Iran.
Berman is sort of hedging his bets in his floor speech: “It is not a judgment of who won the Iranian election” and “We have no interest in interfering in Iran’s internal affairs. That era has ended.”

If they have such little interest in interfering with Iran's affairs, then what the hell are they debating this bill for? This seems purely political. “We're America, and we endorse your democratic struggle.” Is this necessary?

Thanks for your statement of support for our people. We will rid ourself from the occupation of the Islamist extremists. Iran literally means “land of the free” and we hope to once again join; world’s community of free nations.

America must stand up to those who oppress their people and this bill is a small move towards that. Remember we supposedly went to Iraq to fight for democracy, well in Iran we don't even have to lift a finger or shed one American soldiers blood. Here all we need to do is to lend our support verbally. “TEAR DOWN THIS WALL” Mr. Obama you are a gifted speaker it is time that you used it to bring freedom to Iran.
