I have to say where I hope for the best for the Iranian people, that this sort of nonsense from a supposed united states representative supports the notion that the united states interferes irresponsibly in other countries politics as a matter of policy. I think the administrations silence shows maturity sadly lacking in comments like Cantors. No one wants to see a country divided , a people oppressed, or human rights (defined where at guantanamo? ) trampled on - but comments from a member of a party that wants to paint itself as 'oppositional' and as a standard bearer for democracy and who were silent when our own elections were questionable 8 or so years ago speak volumes about their true intentions, and say very little about a commitment to peace and human dignity.

America would do better to let Iran work its problems out for itself, offer a hand where it can, and stay out of politics it doesn't understand. No matter what the outcome of irans internal issues america will be engaged in the mideast for some time to come, and its representatives need to grasp what that means. My advice to cantor is to read sam clemens and 'keep his mouth shut and let the world think his a fool, rather than opening it and remove any remaining doubt'. I also would remind him our army made up of our people that we americans fund, sits on both sides of iran today, and putting them under any additional jeopardy with childish jingoisms, threats and provocations is a unacceptable misuse of the authority we grant him.
