You should really check out the #iranelection hashtag on Twitter right now, because it’s an avalanche of protest against Twitter for performing a scheduled site maintenance at 9:45 Pacific time tonight, which will require one of the service interruptions that Twitter is known worldwide for experiencing right as you’ve dashed off your latest 140-character mot juste. The fear is that the maintenance work will effectively shut down the most reliable social-network for coordination and communication amongst the Iranian opposition and with the outside world. Twitter is pleading that it can’t do anything about the scheduled maintenance, but lots of people are tweeting @Twitter with the hashtag #NoMaintenance and #TwitterStayUp.
