National Organization for Marriage: ‘Stand With Carrie Prejean!’
Friday, June 12, 2009 at 1:39 pm
The anti-gay marriage group piggybacks off the endless Miss California drama with an e-mail to supporters from Executive Director Brian Brown:
Here’s my message to Carrie: Congratulations. Free at last. Free at last. Free at last to craft your own mission and message. God has a plan for you Carrie and we look forward to watching and applauding the next stage in your journey towards Christ.
The whole email is below the fold.
Dear Friend of Marriage,
You’ve heard the news: Miss California USA pageant official Keith Lewis fired Carrie Prejean. Hollywood is doing a tribal war dance. We’re appalled. We’re outraged. But we are not worried about Carrie.
Keith Lewis also admitted on national television that he didn’t even pick up the phone and call Carrie to tell her before he alerted the media. What kind of boss acts like that? It tells you everything you need to know about who was acting in bad faith here.
Carrie Prejean was asked a question: Do you support gay marriage? She answered honestly—like millions of others in California and across this great country: No. Of course not.
From that day forward the attacks have been unremitting.
First they attacked her, then they tried to get her to recant, then they threw mud at her, now they fired her and continue to besmear and besmirch her. Pageant officials like Keith Lewis claim they want to move on and yet they are going on national TV to attack her, her lawyer, and even her pastor!
What kind of people act like this?
Of course Carrie isn’t perfect, but she is honest, courageous and strong in standing up for the truth about marriage. She’s being attacked not for anything she ever did wrong but for one great thing she did right! And she’s not the only one. Thousands of decent, honorable, law-abiding, good Americans are facing attacks because they, like Carrie, have the courage to speak truth to power, to stand for God’s truth about marriage.
So here’s my message to Carrie: Congratulations. Free at last. Free at last. Free at last to craft your own mission and message. God has a plan for you Carrie and we look forward to watching and applauding the next stage in your journey towards Christ.
And here’s my message for you: Help us get the message out!
Carrie’s new website, StandWithCarrie.com, was launched today. Please take a minute to visit her site, and then send a message to five of your friends.
By now, you’ve probably seen our TV ad highlighting the venom that has been directed at Carrie, and that generated so much attention 6 weeks ago. (Click here to watch the ad.) This ad has already been wildly successful, reaching millions with its poignant message, and yet there’s more work to be done!
Same-sex marriage isn’t just about two people living as they please, but about whether a large majority of Americans are going to be marginalized as bigots by a group of elites determined to force their new vision of marriage on the entire nation.
Will you help us get this message out today? With your help, we’ll expand our ad buys into new markets, increase our online outreach, and together reach our goal of “two million for marriage.”

I disagree with Carrie's views, but I think that she has a right to voice them, even in an inarticulate manner. What I find repulsive is the misogynistic nature of the attacks against her, with the media suggesting that she cannot have political views because she is a beauty queen, suggesting that as a woman lauded for her looks she is thus not qualified to have an opinion. My greater suspicion is that she is just a pawn of the Donald in an opportune PR blitz for his holdings. The GMA quote in this video says it all

The National Organization for Marriage are BIGOTS! If they were not, they would at least come out in support of civil unions for same sex couples as a compromise. You cannot openly hate the gay community and then be offended by being called out as a bigot!

Keith Lewis said she was fired for non-attendance at events and not her answer on Gay marriage…Then why did he make an official statement on the Miss California USA website knocking her answer and admitting his views and hers dont get along (Maybe because he is GAY)…see link below”

Please forward to Carrie: I saw your interview on the news this morning, and am writing as one more person that supports your decision and willingness to stand up for what your believe in, no matter how unpopular the stance may be. Although this deed has already been done, I aso wrote to the Miss California website to express my disappointment with the decision. I do not believe their official reason for one minute, as this appears very much a smokescreen to appease those that were on a witchhunt. One might assume that I am someone with right wing views. Not so, as I am a political independent that leans left, an Obama supporter. I have no particular feelings towards this group one way or the other. But this situation is different. You did not get up on a soapbox of your own accord. You were asked a loaded question that was out of place in a beauty contest in the first place, and responded honestly and not hatefully. For that, your name has been visciously dragged through the mud and attempts made to destroy tyour career. This is shameful, and makes me think twice about supporting any legislation whose proponents railroad people that respectfully disagree with their viewpoint. I know injustice when I see it, and this is grossly unfair from a layman's perspective. It appears as you said on TV this morning; that the organization bowed to political pressure, and reflects poorly on these pageants as a whole. I do represent a large body of independent older female voters that can see through the rhetoric and are not easily fooled by smokescreens. We are the majority of voters in this country, and do not like what we see. Either way, I think better things lie ahead for you, and that you failed to take the bait of insulting offers such as reality shows or posing for Playboy. Your future is bright, Carrie, and I think you would be very talented as an anchorwoman. Good luck!

I think this is a good outcome for Carrie. She was railroaded by the vile people that are associated with the Miss California organization. It's amazing how this one little voice has created such a feeding frenzy for the liberal media and gay activists. They are afraid that the silent majority, people that have endured the gay activists taunting parades, cruising of our public parks in the evening and Hollywoods efforts to push the gay dogma into our living rooms, will regain the intestinal fortitude to speak for their own beliefs.
Thank you Carrie and all the best in you future Career…. I see you getting stronger every time you appear on television. Have faith in yourself and don't let them provoke you…… the trash will be put out soon enough and you will be successful.

I'm a male who's liberal on most political issues and I agree with Elizabeth: it's amazing how once this thing got rolling, the misogynistic nature of so many people started to come to the surface. I never realized what was happening when I was laughing along with all the crap that was being heaped on Sahra Palin and family but It really struck home when I heard Perez Hilton's comments. You expect it from people like Letterman but It comes from every level of society up to and including the President. I've been a real Obama supporter but this and the comment by his chief honcho Axelrod are disgraceful. I'm sure I've read more than a thousand posts by now and it seem's to be a big part of the whole gay male culture as well. I doubt you'll ever see this kind of language used regarding any other topic.
For my part; I no longer watch CNN or any of the late-nigh talk shows… Letterman, Stewart and the like. I'll sit outside and enjoy the evening air before I'll subject myself to that again.

God gave Americans a chance to see His commandment recorded in Genesis 1:27, “God created man in His image; in the divine image he created him, male and female he created them. God blessed them, saying” Be fertile and MULTIPLY; file the earth and subdue it.” Marriage between one man and one woman is the way of MULTIPLY human on earth!
But people who dethroned Carrie Prejean from Miss California actions started the destructions to the United States of America, especially State of California.
Carrie, stand tall and strong, the Almighty Eternal God who created and holding sole owner of the earth and everything above, below and on earth, included human race is within you! He loves you for what you did and you will do for benefit His will.

So let me get this straight: It's oppressive when you don't allow a majority group to oppress a minority in regards to an activity in which no one is in any way required to participate?
Comment posted June 13, 2009 @ 11:04 am
It is the issue of the Almighty Eternal Creator of the earth and everything, who is sole owner of all His creations' LAWS that all human on earth must obey without exception!
Majority or minority people, included world governments' leaders and religious leaders did not create the earth and human on earth, and all of us are not own the earth. We have absolutely NO RIGHT to our laws/governments laws, because we must obey the owner of the earth. It exactly of tenants must comply with rental contract conditions, that the Almighty Eternal Creator's laws that all man on earth must obey.
All hatred, violence, war, murder, terrorist, abortion, natural disaster activities, included housing mass closure, record high unemployment, government deficit, economy recession and etc exist because people are turnings.
The United States and global will not get better until after majority people acknowledge their wrongs and return to the Almighty Creator as well as comply to His laws, that summarized in the Holy Bible.

Why are your children out in a public park after dark?
FYI, Reynolds Wrap makes heavy duty tin foil now. Better for hats.

An e-mail conversation between Keith Lewis and Ms. Prejean has been published and her demeanor was exceedingly unprofessional. Moreover, Donald Trump, who is reportedly heterosexual, has himself commented negatively regarding her behavior. Poorly behaved people get fired from jobs. That's life. Moreover, the Miss Universe organization, which I'm certain has a number of gay fans, probably didn't appreciate all the publicity that one of its participants was receiving in regards for her position against marriage equality. This is business, not a church or a similar organization with a moral agenda.
Comment posted June 13, 2009 @ 4:47 pm
They don't go there but how do you define public is the point….. Put up signs saying “Careful, Pederasts at Work After Dark”. We all pay for the parks.
Comment posted June 13, 2009 @ 5:26 pm
And by that logic, we all pay for government services and maybe I don't want my tax dollars to be distributed to suit your prejudices.
Also, it's pretty unfair to just assume everyone in a particular group suffers from a particular psychological problem. All the gay men I know are perfectly functional adults who find that behavior as loathsome as I do.
It's interesting that when religious conservatives get their hackles up about sexual morality, the first element they tackle is gay Americans (who are no more or less deviant than straight Americans) and will totally throw American women to the wolves. An absolutely appalling number of women are sexually assaulted or raped every year, and most of them are too frightened or traumatized to report it or are otherwise conditioned from a lifetime of accepting that their bodies are not necessarily their own. One out of nine women are assaulted in some way, one out of FOUR on college campuses. These are sketchy numbers at best, since at least ninety percent of attacks go unreported and the legal system is inherently against female victims of sexual violence anyway.
Where is the outrage from the religious right on this? Your lot has an unhealthy obsession with the sex lives of Americans, but this seems to fly under the radar. I presume that sexual violence is only considered problematic when it threatens a traditional male power structure, but that's just a guess. Fortunately I'm a liberal atheist and deal in facts and real ethical behavior instead an oppressive and fuzzily defined set of morals that don't do me (or anyone who isn't a white man) any good. And since the fastest growing religion in this country is NO religion, I'm in good company. Religion is a personal pursuit, not an entity to be codified into law, no matter how much anyone might want it.

Plus it's not like banning gay marriage makes gay people any less gay. They're still gay, and presumably will continue to go-go dance in San Francisco while doing shots of AIDS or whatever it is you think that gay people do with their time. They just won't be married.

One of the things that has infuriated me the most about this whole mess is how misogynistic the attacks have been. I have always been a liberal and not very religious but I can't believe the type of language and insults that have been tossed around. When they started to run low on ways to attack Carrie they had to drag the Palins into it. It's just everywhere these days… all the way up to high profile people like the President and his head honcho David Axlerod. And the gay community seems to be rife with it. That language seem to be a big part of their culture. Perez Hilton is the obvious poster boy for vile attacks but people like Letterman and all those other liberal talk show are non-stop with this stuff. I'm sick of that more than anything else. I no longer watching this trash and I'm embarrassed to admit that I ever laughed at a Palin joke. It's like everything else… constant bombardment disguised as humor is a cancer.
Sure gays will go on and I don't care if have equal rights but don't call it marriage. Take Elton John's advice…. he doesn't care to be married, he has equal rights.
I think the big difference is that marriage has a altruistic component to it that symbolizes a union based on the commitment to the self-sacrifice of bearing and raise offspring in order to maintain a healthy society. It's not god that worries me it's Mother Nature. We will be a muslim republic in the not to distant future. As I mentioned, I'm not religious so I have no opinion on Islam. What I see is western society becoming so fat and hedonistic that is now out-sourcing reproduction to other counties which returns to us immigrant. This is were Mother Nature takes over and says: if your to lazy to even maintain your society fine… others are waiting in the wings…. you know that natural selection thingy.

Well Keith Lewis has final stated that Carrie has not miss any obligations. He stated this on Geraldo at Large this evening. Carrie also made some statements and one was that Lewis wanted her to reply in writing that she did not want to take the Playboy offer, which mysteriously came through his office…. odd that someone would present an offer through the organization since they are suppose to be the ones against this.
It just smells really bad….. any cheap two-bit manager can make life miserable enough to force an employ out….. And I think Lewis safely falls into that category.
I sure hope Shanna Moakler isn't finished being a role model for her child, although I'm sure she could have passed on her moral content by now. Didn't she promise to commit herself to her child for a while????

Perez Hilton is a worthless celebrity gossip columnist. What he thinks and does is not some kind of automatic guideline for all gay Americans. I see a lot of supposition about gay people and I think you should pause and consider whether things like “this seems to be a big part of their culture” can be substantiated. Moreover, Carrie Prejean is an adult and like all adults, she is responsible for what comes out of her own mouth. And Letterman is an entertainer who makes a great deal of money telling jokes about current events and interviewing movie stars. He's not a political compass, nor does he pretend to be one. However, political humor has a very important role in American history and it's important not to demean its place in political speech which, incidentally, receives the strictest protection under the law as far as first amendment statutes go.
Elton John is a singer/songwriter and not a resident of this country. He writes some very catchy songs and I understand his musicals are entertaining. His thoughts on gay marriage seem irrelevant here.
When you discuss marriage, you begin with a very important verb phrase, “I think.” This denotes your opinion, not a specific fact. You believe that marriage exists specifically for reproductive purposes and many people might disagree with you. I do. Some people choose to live child-free because they simply don't see themselves as parents but they still might choose to get married. Do you ban them from marriage? Plus, reproduction isn't like making shoes or something. You either have kids or you don't. You don't hire some Chinese people to make kids for you because the cost of using their facility is so much lower. I assure you, Americans will continue having children. Most (though not all) people are born with that particular biological imperative.
As an aside, regarding your reference to Mother Nature and her supposed preference for heterosexuality: Homosexuality occurs with rather stunning frequency among wild animals.

I don't really think Carrie Prejean is a relevant person.

The fact of the matter is that we are indeed relying more and more on immigration in this country to maintain our numbers and our economy. This is not my opinion. The statistics are out there. Take a look at the YouTube video titled “Muslim Demographics”. And I do think it's just as dangerous for heterosexuals including my unmarried children to think it's just inconvenient to raise children….. “fat and Hedonictic”….. Why would anyone got to all that trouble… Let someone else worry about man kind….. sure it's heavily populated and it will continue……it's just that North America will be a completely different country when we are finished with it.

It's not like it matters one way or another. Beauty queens are pretty unimportant people, so whether Carrie Prejean was unjustly fired or not means very little. Miss California is not a job with any special impact on American life, so I don't see why anyone cares. The real issue is the national conversation about marriage equality. I really think it's inevitable. If some ignorant beauty queen is the defining voice on the issue, it doesn't look food for NOM. I don't even care if she got fired because her implants are lopsided. She doesn't matter, this issue does. She just happens to have declared herself a moral authority when she's not even 100% capable of constructing a grammatically correct sentence about it. Vapid beauty queens are hilarious and that's why I've bothered to read about her.

“When our children are exposed to the constant bombardment of the gay agenda though the parades, the liberal media and those unsavory characters that cruise our public parks after dark….. then” . . Perhaps they will start feeling Represented and realize that the people who truly believe the above statement are ignorant. Perhaps they will start feeling like they mean something in this world, instead of just “freaks” to be targeted by said hateful ignorants who refuse to accept Nature as it truly Is. Perhaps they will start loving themselves, instead of killing themselves. Perhaps pehaps perhaps . . .

Now, it comes out that Carrie didn't miss any jobs but they are alleging that she didn't accept any of the jobs. I wonder why? They were presenting her with Playboy photo shuoots, gay weddings and shlock reality TV shows. And then incredibly, they questioned her participation at the Special Olympics event. I would have fired off a much nastier text message if I were her.
Anyone who repeats the “contract violations” line knows that it is a crock. It is about hatred and intolerance of Christians by the homosexuals.
