Michael Mukasey, the highest legal official in the land: "the Vice President is obviously one of the close advisers to the president and is within the executive branch."

I totally agree with you about Mukasey. His inability to define water boarding as torture never sat well with me.

Of course, Cheney will remain as part of the executive branch right up to the point where he has to be a member of the senate in order to avoid testifying on whatever. Mukasey is a disaster as an attorney general. He was Bush’s boy from the getgo – not ours.
