I guess I see what Washington Times mainstay Wes Pruden is trying to say here, but there could be a less Cecil Rhodes-ian way of expressing it.
Mr. Obama’s revelation of his “inner Muslim” in Cairo reveals much about who he is. He is our first president without an instinctive appreciation of the culture, history, tradition, common law and literature whence America sprang. The genetic imprint writ large in his 43 predecessors is missing from the Obama DNA … Kenya simply routed Kansas.
The president only had 42 white predecessors, not 43 — Grover Cleveland served twice — but you don’t worry about such things when you’re trying to expose the grave Kenyan threat to our culture.

Ironically, it is almost certain that Mr Obama is far better educated in the common law tradition than most of his presidential predecessors. And by most accounts he's a voracious reader of literature and history on par with Clinton and Nixon. But he's just not parochial and jingoistic enough for the likes of Pruden I guess.

Funny you should mention Harding who about the same time as Truman joined the KKK. Perhaps Harding did it to cover his being an octoroon or part-indian. He was recruited by the guy who carved Mount Rushmore after having started Stone Mountain. Truman did it to get elected to his first political office-a judgeship. Senator Kennedy famously stated “Don't cross your bridges until you come to them unless you have a dead girl in the car.”
