I'm sure that the Rev. Pavone, et al, were utterly shocked and saddened by the murder of Dr. Tiller, as they darted around the issue, trying to put a disclaimer on the kind of violence that this "movement" will always attract. The ant-abortionists are religious fanatics who believe that it is their sacred duty to meddle into the private lives of US citizens. President Clinton finally had to act to stop the bombings, and other forms of violence by making it illegal to harass both clients and clinic workers. Now, I'd like to know how any leaders and defenders of this "movement" can possibly defend themselves or their presumed right to meddle, by saying how sorry they are--after the fact?

People wouldn't be so turned off by the far right fringe if they would budge and admit that some situations are so horrendous that abortion is really many people's sad first choice - for example the 9 year old rape victim in Africa.

Instead we should work hard to answer all the reasons people feel this is their only choice. Quiet Bill O'Reilley and his ilk.

Quick question, Mr. Miranda... have you clarified your statement ragarding African Americans thinking differently than everyone else yet? Just curious.

The GOP will try it's darndest not to outlaw abortion... They would lose a crucial wedge issue and in fact would create another one in that a movement would be afoot to reinstate the law. Don't believe me? They could have passed a law under a friendly Congress and signed by a friendly President that would have done just that in 2005. It would have been appealed to SCOTUS just in time for two friendly justices to have been named.

None of this happened... I wonder why.

You should have read the letter that you comment on. Our letter does the opposite of demanding a "democratic filibuster." In fact, we do not even demand a traditional filbuster. ,

These guys make a lot of money out of abortion, they can't afford for it to be illegal or unavailable or else the gravy train of donations from fanatical fetus worshippers will dry up. They should be in jail as accessories to every murder, bombing, and other act of violence their tyrannical jihad has encouraged. They are no less terrorists than any Islamic front group or militia crazy.
