Let me tell you why I like Sarah Palin - probably for the same reasons you hate her. She is a real woman, not some ultra-feminist pansy who is afraid to get her nails dirty. Today's feminist gets the vapors at the thought of right-to-carry laws. Today's feminist demonstrates against giving cold blooded murderers the death penalty because it's cruel but thinks nothing of killing the innocent life with in her. Today's feminist thinks she is equal to men and you'd better damn well believe it or she'll throw a hissy fit - witness the absurd reaction to Larry Summers' speech at Harvard.
Sarah doesn't give a damn about your gender role models and women's studies. She gets respect because she deserves it. She sees what she wants to do and moves to do it, ignoring the slights and obstacles and she succeeds.

I like the fact that like a mother bear, if you mess with her kids, you'll be looking down the business end of her gun. For her to carry that world view into the White House is exactly what I want for the country because I want my kids safe as well. Sarah will take care of America first and talk about it later. The big O (isn't that a tire brand?) will still be arguing about the tea temperature while Sarah is washing away the left over gore from any attackers.

Like Michael Reagan wrote, to the extent that she espouses Ronald Reagan's views, reactions, and methods, I say Thank You God.

Bill

This is a great article and has some wonderful observations. I really liked the “pre-feminist” idea and the keen eye about Hillary’s soft and hard mixture.

For those of you who are interested in more on this there was an article by Tammy Bruce in the SF Chronicle today about feminism and Palin.

That was a stretch. The speech was mediocre at best. What concerns me about this article is the nostalgic
B.S. I have to say that Reagan was not the man you think he was. He let people die from AIDS so that he could further his political career and keep his base. And this is the man the Republicans and Ms. Fleming admire. The Right love to say they're for family values and moral correctness but their actions prove they don't care about humanity. I also have a problem with the notion that America used to be so perfect and great. What "good old days" is Ms. Fleming referring too. There is no mention of the killing, lynching, rape and outright theft and greed of those days. Elections were stolen and bought then as they were in 2000 and 2004. Maybe Ms. Fleming needs to read a history book that includes more than pilgrims in it.

Reagan may have been a horrible president, but at least he was charming horrible president. Palin is trailer trash pure and simple. I don't believe any of the unhooded Klan at the Convention would ever invite her or her dysfunctional family for tea. Unfortunately, she's too stupid to realize she's being used to say all the nasty things that the nice unhooded Klan can't utter, or she's an opportunist. Regardless, shooting off one's mouth doesn't mean that person is tough; it just means she's a blowhard.
