Conservative Group Attacks Supreme Court ‘Frontrunners’

The Judicial Confirmation Network, a conservative advocacy group whose executive director weighed in on the Supreme Court debate in my piece this morning, has launched a new Website featuring ads that attack three leading candidates to become the next high court justice.

The site is called Obama’s Frontrunners, and it features three videos that highlight the main conservative arguments against Solicitor General Elana Kagan and federal appeals court judges Diane Wood and Sonia Sotomayor. Kagan, the site tells us, is anti-military; Wood cracks down on religious freedom; and Sotomayor displays racial favoritism.

The site also features a poll asking viewers, “Which frontrunner is the worst liberal judicial activist?” So far, Kagan’s in the lead with 46.2 percent. Sotomayor follows close behind with 38.5 percent, while Wood comes in at just 15.4 percent.

The characterizations of the candidates are largely in line with those revealed by memoranda obtained by The New York Times, and they provide a good window into the arguments we’re likely to see employed against President Obama’s eventual nominee.

Actually the votes you listed are not accurate. That is a dummy image. You have to vote to see the real results.

The results of Angel Justice research:

Sonia Sotomayor was responsible for supervising judge Rosemary Pooler when Pooler was a District judge. That is, complaints about misconduct were to be handled by judges on the United States second circuit Court of Appeals, where Sonia Sotomayor was a judge. A complaint was made about Rosemary Pooler. The complaint centered on Rosemary Pooler taking on a case where Rosemary Pooler and her daughter had direct business dealings with one of the litigants and which business dealings had turned sour. The litigant was bringing to the attention of the district court, alleged misconduct by Anthony Cardona, Thomas Mercure, of the Supreme Court of New York Appellate Division Third Department. The alleged misconduct included misstating or making misleading statements about the law and facts of a case. The matter was essentially ignored by Judith Kaye of the Court of Appeals and thus the case went to Rosemary Pooler of the District court. Rosemary Pooler, who should have recused herself as the case involved someone who had business dealings with her and her daughter. Rosemary Pooler also misstated the facts and misled, and cited non-existent “facts” in order have a dismissal of a complaint of misconduct and leave the State judges in the clear. Thus in the end, one judge after another provided the legal cover for others.

It is now up to Sonia Sotomayor to explain why she did little or nothing to investigate the complaint against Rosemary Pooler, which was the domain of the second circuit court. The people of the United States deserve an explanation before we place Sonia Sotomayor on the United States Supreme Court.

The US Supreme Court has 9 members….we don't need 33% of them representing the interests of AIPAC, Israel and a US minority representing less than 98% of the USA. I agree that a woman should be nominated to give some demographic balance but she should be ethnically representative of the 98% of the USA that would be refused citizenship to Israel.

The downtrodden silent majority of this nation should be expressing outrage at their under-representation in the leadership positions in our country and government, just as other minorities would be if they were under-represented. This is an issue that needs the spotlight and public opinions expressed to elected officials.
