Happy ‘Whitey Tape’ Eve!

By

One year ago tomorrow—May 16, 2008—former CIA analyst and current security consultant Larry Johnson put up this blog post at his site “No Quarter.”

I now have it from two sources that there is video dynamite–Michelle Obama railing against “whitey” at Jeremiah Wright’s church. Republicans may have a lousy record when it comes to the economy and the management of the war in Iraq, but they are hell on wheels when it comes to opposition research. Someone took the chance and started reviewing the recordings from services at Jeremiah Wright’s United Church of Christ. Holy smoke!! I am told there is a clip that is being held for the fall to drop at the appropriate time. The last thing Barack and Michelle need is a new clip that raises further questions about her judgment and temperament.

Johnson posted a video of a then-current Tennessee Republican ad attacking Michelle Obama, then continued his argument.

When the ugly video tapes about Jeremiah Wright’s racist ravings first broke Barack Obama told us he could no more disown Jeremiah Wright than his own Grandmother. Well, we all know how that turned out. So will Barack stand by Michelle when the tape emerges of her verbally attacking “whitey?” Republicans, who are otherwise gloomy about prospects in November, recognize that this recording will create real problems for Barack and give them a shot at the White House. It is their October surprise.

Does Barack have an obligation to tell the Democrats, super delegates in particular, about this tape? Did Barack and his campaign do their basic homework and identify this tape as a potential problem? And, more importantly, do they have a copy? Probably better to deal with this issue before the convention rather than wait for October. What do you think?

The post drew more than 600 comments and kicked off three heated weeks of blog-driven rumormongering which I recapped at the time for The American Prospect. One year later, no such tape has ever surfaced.

That's because the Republicans are holding it for 2012.

I actually heard Fox News discuss the supposed “whitey tape” for several days. Hannity was very gleeful about the supposed existence of the tape. Conservative commentators saw that as their only path to victory. Given the racism against minority populations all over the world, people who enjoyed certainly privileges by virtue of their membership of the majority should be the last to accuse others of racism.

And yet we wonder why the amount we pay for our taxes goes up every year. I am a strong believer in when it is wrong- expose it and when it is right expose it.

If the first lady did say anything like that in the past, I think the context in which it was made must be included. Moreover they do say actions speak louder than words; has she acted it out?

Perhaps, it is time to make an audit of the reality of what the report was trying to imply. For the majority of people in the minority or of a different race or color the stories are endless and they are not pleasant stories.

I have often wondered if the opposition thrown at the President does not carry an underlining message but I try to dismiss it on the grounds that surely these people have put themselves forward on the grounds to serve and they should be more into an on-going education to do just that. I mean people in opposition.

I know their job is to oppose but please pick on policies, legislations that they feel will erode civil liberties and when they do they should try not to think about the monetary rewards (like the majority of people in the media do) think more in terms of the moral justification.

I feel it is time for us all as a society to start reaping dividends for credibility, innovation, excellent service (you know all those qualities that makes us truly great) rather than being taxed heavily for all that is negative and worthless underlining message but I often try to dismiss it on the grounds that surely these people have put themselves forward on the grounds to serve and they should be more into an on-going education to do just that. I mean people in opposition.

More Republican lies! Just like the latest, that Obama is creating the equivalent to the Hitler Youth and forcing everyone who has any college loans to participate. They also claim the kids won't be allowed to go to church or do anything religious. Of course, it's all crap, as usual. Why do the Repubs get away with SO many lies?

No, they're actually holding it for 1974. They're counting on Michelle Obama devolving into a character in a blaxploitation flick because that's the only scenario where she could realistically be expected to refer to the white population of America as “Whitey.” That will be a real game changer. I know it makes no sense but it's no less stupid than putting Joe the Plumber out there on the national stage or any of their other stupid schemes.

“DID'NT”… “BECASUE”…”WOULD OF HAD”…”RACIALIST”…”THEIR WAS NO WAY”…”ANY WAYS”…”NEED'S”…”BELEIVE”…”EXCISTS”

I know I'm going out on a limb here, but you didn't make it too far in school, did you? I'll hazard a guess that you didn't even make it through high school. I'm not going to fault you for that, but seriously, if you want to talk like you know something, you really should learn something about anything first. Learning grammar and spelling would also benefit you greatly, because when people write as poorly as you do, people generally won't even both to read what you wrote. Just a suggestion.

This is from Johnson's response to this article:

Why was the tape never revealed and used? One theory is that the hardline conservatives in possession of the tape did not want John McCain to win, a plausible theory given the hard right’s reluctance in general to aid McCain’s campaign.

Well, yeah, that's one theory. Another theory is that there is no such tape.

Is Larry Johnson a dumbass or what?

I used to respect Larry Johnson, though I'd never heard of him before the Valerie Plame execration. He defended her and he seemed to be a credible member of the intelligence community. I liked that.

Now, a la Borat, maybe…”Not so much.” The only reason I can fathom for his distaste of the Obamas is racism. It's a shame.

Don't be surprised if Johnson blames the non-existence of the “whitey tape” on the “Jewish Lobby”, having laid the blame on them for Freeman's undoing rather then Freeman's own big mouth and oily Saudi connections. Now he's happily ripping Pelosi, not that she hasn't made herself convenient through her petty foolishness, giving his former Agency buddies cover for their immorality and incompetence. I suppose it's his way of staying close to the action and getting some fodder for a his blog; beats being out in the cold.

In 2000, Larry Johnson was a registered Republican who voted for Bush. FACT.

He did become critical of Bush following the invasion of Iraq, but to suggest that he's some sort of lifelong loyal Democrat is sheer fantasy. He accepted a job in the U.S. State Department in 1989. When a Republican was POTUS.

QUOTE: “Why do the Repubs get away with SO many lies?”

I hear ya, but if you've paid attention to the last two election cycles, you'll note that they aren't getting away with it anymore.

They've managed to drive one of their most moderate Senators to the other party (Specter), one of their most moderate governors into the Obama Administration (Huntsman), and they are actively working to defeat one of their most moderate (and electable) Senate candidates in 2010 (Crist).

The GOP is in full-fledged fail mode, they're in a fight for the soul of the party between the moderates and the extremist wackos, and good news for us, the extremists are winning the battle (but will get soundly decimated in the next 2 election cycles).

It's a good day to be a Democrat. At the rate the Goposaurs are going, there will be 75 Democrats in the Senate by 2012.

I have gone to NoQuarterUSA.net from time to time since the election to see how the people who were convinced Obama was going to turn us into a Muslim nation and take the oath on the Koran and put Bill Ayers in as Secretary of Education and on and on are doing.

And I can report that they are all incredibly disjointed. It's an anti-Obama site, but what's great about it is because the people there are only linked by their Obama hatred, the ideological alignment is all over the map. You have neo-con Republicans rubbing shoulders with embittered former Hillary PUMAs; you have people shouting how Obama is not progressive enough right next to someone screaming about how Obama is a socialist. They have a guy–Larry Doyle–who posts one anti-Obama economic thing one day, and then when Obama announces something that Larry called for–well, he rants about that.

As for Larry Johnson, I know for a fact that he has cheated on his wife with a woman named Susan Hudgens. They met at a PUMA conference in person, although they had corresponded for a long time, and she has run his blog for a while. They work closely together. And one night in May 2008, they had sex in room 404 at a hotel, in Port Angeles, Washington.

I know two people who assure me that it happened, and there is video of the encounter. I think it will be released soon. Trust me.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

The subsequent time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as a lot as this one. I imply, I do know it was my option to learn, however I truly thought youd have something fascinating to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you could repair should you werent too busy looking for attention.

Most of the things you state happens to be astonishingly accurate and it makes me ponder the reason why I had not looked at this with this light before. This article truly did switch the light on for me personally as far as this particular subject goes. However there is one factor I am not necessarily too comfortable with and while I attempt to reconcile that with the central theme of your point, let me see just what the rest of the subscribers have to say.Very well done.

I have been surfing on-line more than three hours today, but I never discovered any interesting article like yours. It’s beautiful price enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the web will probably be a lot more useful than ever before. “No nation was ever ruined by trade.” by Benjamin Franklin.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Together with Replica Burberry Watcheseverything that appears to be developing within this specific subject matter, all your points of view tend to be very radical. On the other hand, I am sorry, but I can not subscribe to your entire strategy, all be it exciting none the less. It would seem to us that your comments are generally not entirely validated and in actuality you are your self not really completely convinced of the argument. In any event I did appreciate reading through it.

obviously like your web-site but you need to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I to find it very troublesome to tell the reality however I’ll certainly come back again.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
