Toomey Whacks Specter on EFCA Soul-Searching

When Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) switched parties, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform told me that it could have been worse; Specter was still blocking the Senate from a vote on the Employee Free Choice Act. Today Specter is hinting that he might support a compromise, and the Toomey campaign is firing back through communications director Nachama Soloveichik:

Arlen Specter had the right position on Card Check for a grand total of six weeks … this kind of power-hungry flip-flopping is exactly the kind of behavior that upsets Pennsylvania voters — regardless of their party affiliation.

The Toomey campaign hasn’t really tweaked its issue menu or its messaging since this stopped being a primary.
