Confirming that there are already 2,100 open cases of mortgage fraud that the FBI is investigating, Attorney General Eric Holder said today that he plans to soon roll out a new plan for the Justice Department’s handling of financial and mortgage fraud matters that will include working more closely with state and local governments. The announcement came in response to lots of aggressive questioning on how the Department of Justice plans to handle the problem, with lots of complaints by House Judiciary Committee that the Bush administration had fallen down on the job.
