The problem is Cheney and others don't have the balls to be held accountable for their decisions; and some of those decisions led to torturing innocent people.

If we are to believe that torture succeeded in preventing another tragedy, then the Republicons should proudly embrace their techniques instead of hiding behind enhanced interrogation. Why it might even discourage enemies in training knowing that they face a fate worse than a heaven filled with virgins. The problem is Cheney and others don't have the balls to be held accountable for their decisions; and some of those decisions led to torturing innocent people.

When the US stoops to the level of the enemy and conducts torture in the gutters of an undisclosed location, it holds out no torch of liberty or hope to the world's oppressed people. Whether you call it enhanced interrogation or torture does not matter, if it takes 183 times, it's not working. If it takes one time and you get someone to claim there are witches in Salem or a link between Iraq and Osama, it's not working. If you keep someone awake for so long that they hallucinate and say their dog masterminded 9/11, it's not working. Only the tortured mind of Cheney and the interrogators may believe it's working and believe that it kept us safe from the next wave of mentally disturbed hijackers who having seen the first mission succeed now must confront the fact that they are not simply training for many months for a hijacking, but must comtemplate for those months that they are on a flight to death.

If we are to believe that torture succeeded in preventing another tragedy, then the Republicons should proudly embrace their techniques instead of hiding behind enhanced interrogation. Why it might even discourage enemies in training knowing that they face a fate worse than a heaven filled with virgins.
