Sarah Palin, America’s Most Popular Governor

Well, not quite anymore. A new Hays Research poll from Alaska has Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R) popularity falling precipitously from the mid-80s to only 54 percent, with 42 percent of Alaskans saying they have a “negative” view of her.
Some popularity drop-off isn’t uncommon right now, as states battle with their budgets, but Palin has really not adjusted well to her new role as a national figure from an obscure state.

It is to be expected that Palin will lose some popularity in Alaska as she now focuses her attention on the lower 48. It is clear to everyone following her that she is running for president right now, full bore. That effort necessarily means she must devote less time and effort to her duties in Alaska. And that is apparent to the Alaska electorate. Palin also is the front runner today in almost all republican polls. She is also likely to win the republican primaries. And if the lunatic fringe, by some miracle, can attract moderates into their camp, the moronic Palin may actually unseat Obama in 2012.
