I did construction till I was 58:Iquit because the illegalls had driven down the wages to min. wage. I retired from auto parts sales at 71 which included installing batteries among other things only to have my shoulder repaired, and when I heal I will be back in business. Also,Illegal aliens only make up about %8 or %9 of the workforce;We wont miss you.

You don't have to read many of Daphne Eviatar's immigration stories to see that like her boss, George Soros, she has a real problem with the rule of law and the idea of national sovereignty. Let's just eliminate our borders altogether in order that Soros and his ilk in the business community can count on an unending supply of cheap foreign labor even though it results in the most vulnerable of our working citizens being thrown out of work so that foreigners here illegally can "search for a better life."

She says our immigration system is "cruel and irrational" because the federal government has the gall to enforce existing immigration laws. Like other open-borders advocates, Eviatar accuses those charged with enforcing those laws of "tearing apart families." Sorry, Ms. Eviatar, but the full responsibility for these families being separated lies at the feet of those who thumbed their noses at our laws and deliberately placed their spouses and children in harm's way when they came here illegally.

And for those companies Eviatar says are fearful of "hiring immigrants", well, there would be no fear if they used the free E-Verify program that protects them from prosecution because they have made a good-faith effort to comply with the law.

None of this is worthy of Eviatar's attention because her agenda has nothing to do with providing her readers with both sides of this story.

YES, go after the employers, but you MUST also round up the ILLEGAL ALIENS.

"The Times wrote. “They destroyed families, tearing parents and grandparents from children, many of them citizens".

No ILLEGAL ALIEN is a citizen. No child born in America to an ILLEGAL ALIEN is a citizen! No family has to be separated! When the father or mother is caught in a raid, they can be asked if they have family here ILLEGALLY. If they do, deport them also!

This illegal immigration has caused more problems than anyone could have ever imagined. ILLEGAL ALIENS just snub their nose at our laws. When they are caught and told to leave the Country, they snub their nose again. obama's aunt is a good example of that. Then in a lot of cases, when they are deported, they come back again! THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!

I think it's time for ZERO TOLERENCE with these ILLEGAL ALIENS. Once we get rid of the ILLEGAL ALIENS, we get rid of all the problems that go with them!

Ah, Yet another piece that insists on using the term “immigrant” in one big hand sweep when referring to those that entered a foreign Nation. “immigrant's” in fact, need not worry about any families being “torn apart” nor do they. However, If the writer is referring to one who willingly sneaks into, or sneaks others into a foreign Nation or violates the privilege and terms of a work or tourist visa, then…um…Yeah,
Thats illegal and they should worry about reaping the fruits of their foolish behavior. It's called a deterrent and is the reason why many people choose to follow the Law.

Wow, imagine fining an employer who hires illegal help?
Not America's problem if people break the law to come here, have children to leech off the taxpayer and anchor themselves here, then find themselves punished for the crime they committed. The fact that they all hide is proof they know the penalty. AND they can take their families with them when the are returned home.
All these sob stories do not effect Americans who want secure borders and people who wait in line and enter legally.

In the meantime, workplace raids targeting employers are likely to lead some companies to refuse to hire immigrants at all, out of fear that the lawful documents they present are fraudulent — which could mean large penalties for the company.
