H1B visa was started to fill the “temporary shortage”. It should not have been continued. Now It has become 800lb Gorilla killing all american workers jobs.

The people are VERY MUCH in favor of Durbin/Grassley bill 887. Who would be against reducing fraud and abuse other than employers and pimps that depend on fraud and abuse?

This is a very late comment, but it’s important to note that the H-1B visa program is undercutting American universities.

A kid getting a U.S. degree is spending more money and taking on more debt than a kid getting the same degree in India, for example. Therefore, the graduate with the U.S. degree MUST HAVE a higher starting salary in order to cover her/his school debt.

So… U.S. firms hire foreign grads because they are able to work more cheaply than U.S. grads. What does this do to U.S. schools?

We need to work towards eliminating the H-1B program in order to restore marketability to grads of U.S. universities and colleges, AND to compel industries who need more grads with technical degrees to sponsor programs to train U.S. citizens at U.S. schools, instead of importing less-expensive graduates from beyond our borders.

It is unpatriotic and morally wrong to hire a foreigner over us citizen at any cost. As we can’t replace our politician with best and bright politician from other country so should not we replace our workers.
