Congress! Keep your eye on the ball! This Country is in far more serious economic trouble than anyone cares to admit. Address the real problems of the Nation, and stop looking for distractions in an attempt to dodge the enormous problems facing us all.

Millions of ordinary people have lost their jobs and homes and are being EMOTIONALLY TORTURED AS THEY FEAR FOR THE WELL-BEING OF THEIR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN! People are literally dying because of the Greater Depression which is now upon us. Stop dealing with the trivial, and playing politics; this Country is in deep, deep financial trouble.. President Obama certainly gets it; but not the entrenched members of Congress who could care less about the Country and only want to extract their pound of flesh from the former Bush Administration. Follow the lead of the President and stay focused on the Nation's dire financial situation; the two wars in the Middle and Near East; illegal immigration; health care and social security challenges; alternative energy imparatives, global warming, disease, the out of control prison population growth; greed among Wall Street Capitalists, etc. Keep your eye on the real problems of the Country, and get on with trying to save this great Democracy. Read your Roman History, and put your fiddles and violins away. Please, don't waste valuable time and resources in an effort to go, “one up,” on the former Administration. This Great Republic is on the brink of disaster, and needs extraordinary leadership by BOTH the President and the Congress. It would serve Congress well too, to heed the words of one of most famous fore-fathers: namely, Thomas Jefferson.

Post Script: Speaking of Torture, there is talk of a new TV reality show where Contestants face ever increasing acts of Torture for really, “big bucks.” Can't be any worse than the free-for-all fighting style that is taking place on national TV today.

Prison Guards, Police, the Military, High School and College Coaches, and even School Principals and Parents, have been grabing their charges around the neck and bouncing them off the wall and lockers from time to time. No outrage over those incidents. Congressional members seem to have forgotten too, the hazing that has been going on in Frat Houses for over 100 years. Get a grip; spend your time and OUR RESOURSES trying to save this Great Republic.

Again Congress, please find a way to ease our emotional pain and torture inflicted upon us by the failure of both capitalism and our federal government, and DO IT NOW! The methods that are being used are no way close to the torture and the treatment that our soldiers get if they are captured. Beheading well we should just say “How terrible” we tie the hands of those that can help and keep us safe.

If you knew that a suspected terrorist had information about an attack and that the attack that is planned would kill your son, daughter, mother, father or someone else that you love and the only way to obtain that information is through enhanced interrogation techniques would you use it?

I think the answer would be yes! You would do anything to keep your family and loved ones safe, so why do you not want the government to do all it can to keep us safe?

First the OLC issued its torture opinions after being told what to say. That would create a huge chill on any reputable lawyer but not on a prostitute lawyer.

Second, where the advice and the action are blatantly legal why is chilling it bad?

Politicians feel they are free to weigh in on everything whether qualified, biased or just need to be in the national spotlight. The news media then gives big coverage to the comments with bigger coverage for the more outrageous comments.

If politicians are going to spout off, and if the media is going to comment then let them do some homework and tell the public what the law says, how or why it does not apply and then their opinion.

I'm sick of listening to all the reasons why we should torture, and no one seems to be saying its against International law, its against US law, and its against moral behavior. EVERYONE that seems to have expertise says it does not give reliable intel. Everyone except Cheney and his minions.
