Feingold: Amend the FISA Amendments Act
Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 10:50 am
Just out from Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), one of the leading civil libertarian voices in Congress opposing the 2007 FISA Amendments Act that lowered the standards for National Security Agency surveillance on U.S. citizens and residents:
“Since 2001, I have spent a lot of time in the Intelligence Committee, the Judiciary Committee, and on the floor of the Senate bringing attention to both the possible and actual effects of legislation that has dangerously expanded the power of the executive branch to spy on innocent Americans. Despite these efforts, Congress insisted on enacting several measures including the USA PATRIOT Act, the Protect America Act, and the FISA Amendments Act, embarking on a tragic retreat from the principles that had governed the sensitive area of government surveillance for the previous three decades. Congress must get to work fixing these laws that have eroded the privacy and civil liberties of law-abiding citizens. In addition, the administration should declassify certain aspects of how these authorities have been used so that the American people can better understand their scope and impact.”

Sen. Feingold,
You don't seem to realize that if we are not willing to go the extra mile to watch for those individuals/groups that wish to do us harm, we are leaving ourselves wide open to another 9-11 style attack. I welcome the government listening in on calls. They can listen to mine all they want if it helps to keep me and my family safe.

Tim Johnson, you are a bootlicker who deserves neither security nor civil liberties.

Tim Johnson, we're supposed to be living in a FREE country. If you want your government in your personal life, move to Socialist country…China or Cuba might fit you better! I don't wan my government in my house and in my personal business. Another 9-11? Not likely. Thanks Russ, for fighting for what's RIGHT!

Mr. Johnson, you have no respect for the Bill Of Rights so many have fought to protect.
Go spy on yourself.

Nice words… but did you know that earlier this month Russ Feingold helped pass the Hatch Amendment, Senate Amendment 962, by unanimous consent? The amendment, which passed as part of the budget bill, makes it harder for the Senate to even consider any bill to reform the FISA Amendments Act or Patriot Act. So while Senator Feingold mouths nice words, he helped make it more difficult to convert those words to reality.

Amend the amendments? Do the Congress and Senate understand that we recognize that they are constructing their New World Order government in America by abridging our constitution with new, unconstitutional law that is NOT VETTED constitutionally. Further, we also recognize them to be assisting themselves in crafting the attacks on our governance by redirecting legal challenges to courts dominated by their emmisaries, placed they ad nauseum by Bush in illegal fashion, and in contravention of laws against political hiring.
The NSA has thrown down the gauntlet: THE NSA AND ALL INTEL ACTIVITIES ARE BEING EMPLOYED AGAINST DISSENT AGAINST THEIR ACTIVITIES. WHY ELSE ARE THEY STILL
STEALING OUR EMAILS AND INTERNET HISTORIES?
Plainly, Obama is now just the next freemason, placed there by freemasons, to ensure Bush is NOT BROUGHT TO JUSTICE, THAT SPYING ON US CAN STILL BE ACCOMPLISHED, DISSENT CAN BE MONITORED, AND OUR TRANSIT BE MONITORED.
Congress and the Senate: we know you are out for our country, and we will not surrender it to the freemasons and the trilateral conspirators, bent on protecting their financial and societal pre-eminance.
ALING OUT COMMUNICATIONS????
WE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE ON, BROTHERS, GIVE IT UP, YOU SHALL NOT GO FORWARD.

Thank you Senator Feingold for trying to protect the Constitution. You seem to be one of the only sworn Congress members who is willing to stand by their word. So thank you for being so exceptional.
