[...] Reports of the truth commission’s death are grossly exaggerated, says Sen. Patrick Leahy. Still, it’s clear that the idea of investigations into possible past Bush-era misdeeds is not exactly popular in the Washington establishment right now. Obama has two wars to win, a financial crisis to solve, health care to make universal, and carbon to cap, after all — government is busy enough as it is, say these transparency nay-sayers. Additionally, there’s a sense among politicians that the public wants to look forward, not backward (as the president might say). So forward we go. [...]

[...] Weekly Web Watch (3/29-4/5) By Jason Rathod Reflecting on the National Court of Spain’s decision to review a complaint implicating several Bush-era lawyers allegedly involved in crafting the administration’s legal justification for torture, Stephen Brainridge sets forth the troubling consequences of permitting claims hinging on “universal jurisdiction.” Scott Horton says that the Spanish action is better than nothing, though a full-fledged domestic investigation and prosecution would be optimal. Earlier in the week it appeared that Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) was backing away from his previous idea of instituting a Truth Commission, but later clarified that the Commission is not dead, just resting.
I came to realize about a year ago that it would fall on the shoulders of those countries in Europe to bring Bush to justice. With the Republican Party interested in only themselves and the Rich Masters they serve. The Bush Old Money is as powerful as it has ever been and is being spent generously to protect Jr. and Papa from ever having to face a jury of their peers.

One prime example is that the remaining Torture Memos that re still being kept secret because they will show the world and the citizens of the US that Bush not only ordered torture, but ordered the Anal Rape of many of the Detainees. Once that information hits the mainstream media something else should hit the fan shortly afterwards. The CIA has claimed that to release those memos would cause major embarrassment of it's agents. The law has decided over and over again the "Embarrassment" is not a legal reason to keep a crime secret. It's up to you to make sure that the new Atty Gen., Eric Holder releases those Memos and follows up by appointing a independent Special Prosecutor with enough money and staff to follow this issue no matter where it is lead by the facts.
