Michael Steele: Global Warming ‘Is Part of the Cooling Process’
Monday, March 16, 2009 at 5:01 pm
I’ll have a piece shortly on recent polling that shows that an increasing number of Americans are skeptical of the threat of global warming. Evidently, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is one of them.
On a March 6 radio program that was just uncovered by The Huffington Post, Steele had this to say about climate change:
“We are cooling. We are not warming. The warming you see out there, the supposed warming, and I am using my finger quotation marks here, is part of the cooling process. Greenland, which is now covered in ice, it was once called Greenland for a reason, right? Iceland, which is now green. Oh I love this. Like we know what this planet is all about. How long have we been here? How long? Not very long.”
Ah, now I understand. The warming process is part of the cooling process.
Well, that sure is a relief.

The man is an idiot. Maybe these republicans should try opening a book.
Erik the Red named it Greenland in order to try to attract colonists, not because it was green. Also, Iceland was named by Flóki Vilgerðarson when he saw a fjord full of ice. Not because the island was ice covered.
Please save us from idiots and republicans.

What is amazing is how gullible the people of Planet earth are when a group of politicians get the bacling of a bunch of bought by Grants Scientists to do their bidding for dominion over the Planet through a Carbon Tax.

[...] Separately, in an appearance as guest host on Bill Bennett’s radio show he takes on GOP Congressman Lamar “I insert but don’t vote for earmarks” Smith of Texas. (On the same show, he dismisses global warming.) [...]

Combating climate change may not be a question of who will carry the burden but could instead be a rush for the benefits, according to new economic modeling presented at “Climate Change: Global Risks, Challenges & Decisions” hosted by the University of Copenhagen.
Contrary to current cost models for lowering greenhouse gas emissions and fighting climate change, a group of researchers from the University of Cambridge conclude that even very stringent reductions of can create a macroeconomic benefit, if governments go about it the right way.
“Where many current calculations get it wrong is in the assumption that more stringent measures will necessarily raise the overall cost, especially when there is substantial unemployment and underuse of capacity as there is today”, explains Terry Barker, Director of Cambridge Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research (4CMR), Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge and a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Congress.

Oh, yeah, let's not forget we already ARE in a period of cooling, and yet carbon dioxide, methane, various other greenhouse gases are being emitted in the air and warming the planet, along with other artificial chemicals, far more than we can even attempt to think about, let alone act on. And that a large portion of all this comes from 7 BILLION living, consuming beings.
And let's not forget that all the strongest evidence for man-made global warming is gathered and studied by SCIENTISTS, not politicians or heads of the RNC, who should stay out of science if they can't even distinguish the difference between hot and cold, let alone be an expert in earth science. Wait, you do believe in science, right?
So, Steele, shut up, and bring the far right (which now seems to be 99.9% of them, explaining the Democratic controlled government) Republicans along with you, eh?
