Along with clean needle programs and safe drug consumption rooms, if drugs were provided to addicts in a controlled and logical way, with the best interests of the user in mind, it would also lessen black market activities. Why would a junkie rob a house and go into the bad part of town to get a fix when he could walk to a center down the street. Not only would there be no robbery, but it would lessen the monetary incentive to sell drugs in the first place. It seems as of late that the problem is getting especially bad on the Mexico US boarder. If such large amounts of money were not at stake, I'm sure more people might keep their heads.
