You don’t know what former enemy combatant Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri looks like. If you read Daphne’s stuff like you should, you know that President Obama ordered al-Marri to be transfered from a South Carolina Naval brig after he was held for six years there without trial to a federal prison, and he’ll stand trial in federal court for terrorism-related charges. But the Defense Department hasn’t permitted people to photograph him.

But Jane Mayer, national treasure and national security reporter for The New Yorker, has acquired a picture of al-Marri. A source of hers hints that “this change in policy regarding the release of detainee photos may soon extend to Guantánamo,” as well.
